Only 7 days old, and already have to take my ZX3 back for warranty work. - Focaljet

Well, my shiny, new ZX3 was all of a week old this past Saturday when I decided to wash it up. As I was drying it off I noticed on the passenger door, where the seem is between the door and the front fender a white mark. Upon further inspection I realized what it was. The door, when you open it, rubs against the inside of the front passenger fender and has already worn down the paint to bare metal. So now, I've got to find time to get it into the dealer to have them fix it. I'm praying they don't just plop some touch up paint on there and say "its fixed", I'm pretty much going to make sure they fix the misaligned panels, and either replace or repaint the door to make sure the paint is even and smooth.

Am I nuts for expecting this? I've never had to deal with Ford service dept's, let alone any service dept's so I don't know what to expect. Anyone else had similar problems/experiences?

If your driver's door has an obvious misaligned door and the the white mark is a result of that then I would demand exactly what you have said. I would not accept anyhting less. Personally, I have had some frustration in dealing with my dealer before but thats me and my dealer. And they usually got it solved after the 3rd or 4th time with much insistance on my part.

Yes, I would indeed demand a new paintjob...

I can't really tell, but from the pic it looks like a pitch black.... at least black is the easiest color to paint (no blending required).

Still if they do it like they should it will probably take a couple of days even for that small of a scrape...

sanding/prepwork, primer, color, clearcoat.... lotsa work....
