Default Speed Control Broke?

I looked through to see if anyone else has had this issue, but no matches...
Just on Friday, I'm driving from upstate NY to Long Island; I got on the highway, went ahead and set the speed control, and it's not working! When I press "ON" and then "SET," the green light illuminates on the dash, but my car slows down as soon as I let off the gas, and eventually the speed control turns off (once my car slowed 10 mph below the set speed). I've used the speed control a hundred times before, so I know I'm not doing anything wrong (I even read the owner's book for the hell of it). Back to Ford service again... sigh. Just curious if anyone has had this problem before. I did have the speed control cable recall done almost a year ago, I'm wondering if this is related at all.

Let me know what they say about yours. Mine does the same thing about half the times I use it. I noticed if you hit resume when you are below the set speed, it'll pick up in 1-2 seconds. But if you are above the set speed, it can take 10-15 seconds (or about 10 km/hr under, which ever comes first) to pick up.

I just assumed that was the way the cruise worked on this car, maybe it's just some emissions control thing.

I used my cruise control most of the way to boston, and it didnt act that way; there must be something wrong with it. Good luck with it though...

My cruise stopped working just before Christmas. Although, my green light wasn't coming on, and the cruise never kicked in.

Turns out it was just a little spring on the clutch pedal.

So if you have a 5 speed, your spring may have broke also.

Brought my car in today... turns out the cruise control servo kicked the bucket, has to be special ordered. Guess I'm just the lucky one!

Just noticed some interesting cruise-control-related behaviour today on my drive back from Spring Break.

Got on the interstate and accelerated up to about 80mph, click the "on" button, and clicked "set". I let my foot off the gas and nothing happened. The sun was shining on the dash so I couldn't tell if the light was on or not. I tried it again; same result. Tried it three more times; same thing. Getting rathar pissed as the thought of a 5-hour drive without cruise control is not very good.

Rounded a corner to where the dash wasn't in the light anymore, so I gave it another shot. Still didn't work. Swearing profusely now. I press the "on" button, and the "set" button again, and it doesn't work. Frustrated, I pressed a few other buttons. When I hit "reset" it caught and held all the way to the Acworth, Georgia when I stopped for gas. Then the same bizarre behaviour. So after pressing "on" and "set", I hit "reset" and it took.

This is not normal cruse control behaviour. I'm going to take her down to Carl Gregory here in Auburn and have it looked at. It better be covered under warranty or I'll be SOL.
