has anyone had the problem of their car bogging out when you floor it? does anybody know what causes this? also i just installed an aem short ram intake, and know it sometimes idles at 1500 rpms. when i put in nuetral they jump to 3000 rpms and then back down to the normal 750 rpms. i have actually coasted with my foot off the gas and reached 40 mph. I read in the manuel that when you disconnect the baterry you should let the car idle for 5-10 min before driving to reset the idle. I did that but it did not seem to do anything. sorry for rambling on but i was just wondering.

Hi JT's00Focus,
First of all, welcome aboard. If I'm not mistaken by what you mean, the bogging out is a slight hesitation of the engine around 1800-2000 rpm when stepping on the gas moderately. I own a ZX3 and also have this problem as many other ppl with the zetec engine. I have learned to live with it. I rarely drive around 2000 rpm anyways so its not a big deal for me. ------------------ NiLo Infra-red ZX3 5-Speed, ABS Mods?: No wheel caps... my zx3 had the same problem when i put on my intake it reduced the torque and brought up the hp dramatically. my suggestion to you is if you want to move from the line yank of the intake and buy a mod chip made for torque for your car. they run about 300 dollars but your car wont bog out as bad , it makes a huge improvement , trust me i have a mustang 5.0 w/ plenty parts and a zx3 w/ plenty of parts and my focus can almost keep up w/ the stang.

Foci_R,
How do you specify what "type" of chip you want and what is the difference? I'm planning on getting one, but I didn't know you could have them custome made. Any info is helpful. ------------------ Mali-Blue ZX3 |

focusjelosan, go to your local race shop and talk to them im not sure of the specifics but i know you have to send away your whole computer thing and it comes back finished w/in a week. most race shops know a place that does that.

the bogging may be due to the intake sucking in a buch of hot air when you step on it.
