OK, I've got a serious problem. I installed an amplifier and subwoofer recently. It was working just fine, and then I went to make a left turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic, and my car spontaniously turned off! The worst thing is that I lost power steering, so the wheels pretty much locked up. I restarted the car, and it seemed fine. I didn't wreck or anything. I checked the amp's fuse, and it was blown, so I removed it and left it out. I haven't checked any others yet. The car seemed to be running fine for a few days after that, but it just happened to me again. I went to make a left turn, and the car spontaneously shut off! This is really scary and potentially life threatening, so I'm going to take it to the dealer ASAP. However, I'm wondering what possibly could cause such a strange and dangerous phenomenon. Any clues or diagnostic advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I did not get a check engine light at any time.

if the fuse was blown you may have a cross in a wire, bad ground, it could be a number of things. the dealership is gunna blame it on yer aftermarket work no doubt...check all your wiring for shorts/etc.

Of course I'd rip everything out before taking it back to the dealership. I don't think I have any shorts, but my ground may not be optimal.

I checked the fuse by the battery, and it's fine. I removed it just to make sure the circuit's broken. It's only 15A while the amp's blown fuse was 20A. I also checked the piggyback fuses I used with my remote wire, and they're fine, too. I think the one I used for the remote circuit was only rated for 3A. So what could cause the amp fuse to blow, and more importantly what could make the car shut off?

um, an ampf use will blow when there is a surge of power/ if +/- meet or if like there is a problem with the amp. ive blown many fuses in my time and also fried my hands. (never play with the ground/power cables with sweaty hands on a hot day.) i mean, the only thing i can think of with yer car turnin off is that the left turn is like pullin a ground off the car or sumthing. or sumhow sumting with a positve current it hittin the metal the ground it on. i think its real wierd but let the dealership figure it out. they get paid to do that
