Unless the part being claimed to void the warranty was directly responsible (proof needed) for the problem presented, your warranty cannot be voided.

Run a search as I remember that this was brought up before.

Its called the Magnussen-Moss Act, its been discussed here before. Also check out the SEMA site, they have all the details of how aftermarket parts affect a warranty. If you're looking to fix the tranny and Ford says they can't touch it because of the springs and Hellas, they're giving you a line of BS. I don't believe that there is a recall notice out for the tranny noise, lots of people seem to have it and have had no luck with the dealers fixing it. I thought I remember someone saying that the noise was fixed by moving a few bolts around though.

that's crap...if they don't give in after you research this more, mention that you'll be going elsewhere for all of your regular maintenance work, not to mention to purchase your next vehicle...

What did you have your car in the shop for that they refused service?
I have several mods done on my ZX3 and the dealer has covered several things for me under warranty and of course, all the recall work. As a matter of fact the guys at the dealer like what I've done to the car
Sorry, your having a bad dealer experience....

and I haven't received any info. regarding a tranny recall for my 00 ZX3....

Mom the dealer is absolutely speechless about my car.. i mean just look at the mods. but they refused to do my engine work.. and suspension work cause one of my shocks were leaking and my car started with the stall thing again.. all they could say is we know your engine is under warranty but you've upgraded with performance parts by adding this focussport wire.. also your exhaust has been changed and your springs so its not under warranty anymore. we apoligize for this incovinience thats caused. OMG thats when i flip because this is the 3rd DEALER i've been to that rejected me im 1 day from selling this car and buying my Acura Vtec . If the next dealer rejects me thats it bye bye focus

Basically what you need to do (shouldn't have to but you need to) is talk to the service manager, let him know that you are aware of your consumer rights(Make sure you are! Might be handy to have some documentation printed out from SEMA's site) and if they are still refusing you service remember they have to be able to document what modification you did that caused your problem.

For example, it's fairly certain your springs DID in fact screw up your shock. So you're not gonna get warranty replacement of that shock. I'd pop your stock wires back on too, that way they can't say that the wires are causing the stumble. In any case they should definitely be fixing your engine stumble for you.

BTW here's SEMA site: http://www.sema.org/

good luck

THEY ADJUSTED THE REAR LOWER SWAY BAR WAS OFF BY ANYWHER FROM 7 TO 13MM. THEY EVEN ADJUSTED MY FRONT END ALLIGNMENT. SORRY ABOUT ALL THE BAD LUCK. HOPE EVERYTHING COMES OUT OK FOR YA.

The dealers are bsing you. Print this out http://www.sema.org/warranty/atta.cfm , and take it to your dealer. Read through the rest of this site as well, http://www.sema.org/warranty/index.cfm. That will provide you with enough info that you should be able to get your car fixed(minus the shocks, those are going to be up to you to fix). My dealer tried to give me crap because of my plug wires, I whipped out that printout and spoke with the service manager. Things have been much nicer since then. Point is, you need to be informed, because the dealer is counting on you not being knowledgeable, same as if you were purchasing a new car.

FocusZtec,

Sorry to hear that your local dealers are trying to f**k you over.

I was under the impression that dealers have to do warranty work - they can't refuse since its safety related. Since you didn't replace the clutch, the recall still applies to you and must be done.

Also, you haven't done any engine work [cams, throttle body, etc] that voids your warranty or causes your stalling problem, so your really have a case against the dealers.

On the other hand, your SCA springs did void the warranty on your shocks. For the shocks repair, you're going to have to pay out of your pocket.

Now, in principle, you should fight the good fight. But in reality, having to fight with dealers is too frustrating for most people.

If you do decide to sell your ZX3, good luck, it's a beautiful car.

peace

First off, I'm glad to hear that you've made some progress with getting your car serviced properly. Dealers can be such a**holes.

As for your question, EBC brake pads do reduce the dust somewhat, but my wheels still look filthy after about 3 days. With the stock pad, it would take a day for my rims to get filthy.

Depending on your driving habits, you should be able to go longer between cleanings with the EBC's. The dust from the EBC rinses off easier than the stock pads also.

I take my car to the car wash about once a week [the kind where you drive it thru - or you'll f**k up the lip on your rims]. In between, I just wash with soap and water, then rinse off. The next thing would be to then dry off the wheel (water attracts dust). But I usually don't have the time to do that.

As you know, with white wheels, it's a no-win situation.

peace

Ok so would it be good to get new rotors? with the EBC's only because also when im accelarating sometimes it feels like the break is catching, but only happens around 20 - 40mph the car kinda hesitates as if i was running out of gas.. weird so i was wondering if i needed another my friend says theres a way they can run my rotors thru a machine to make it somewhat new again..!?!

I believe that's called 'grounding' the rotors (or something like that) and it's done somewhere around the 12-15K servicing. Talk to your service dept about it.

Though I'm not sure what's causing the problem that you speak of. Have you tried posting this to noresull in Team Tech? If anyone on this board can help you, he can.

They are not supposed to reject your car. I spoke with one of my friends who works on a Ford Dealership. According to him lowering, intake, exhaust (as long as you keep the cat) and other minor mods will not void your warranty. Only if (as stated before) the mod is directly related with the damage.
