when i first start my car up, when it is cold; it idles at about 11-1200 rpm. then as the car heats up, it will drop to below 1000. what is up with that?

That's normal; the engine speed is being controlled by the PCM in response to a temperature sensor when you first start it up.
Remember the automatic choke on carburated engines? Sort of the same idea except we have a computer and injectors. |
