Default Brakes and ???? problems

ok, first when I give the zx3 gas to go ,it goes for a second then stalls and the car slows down and speeds up?????
second the brakes make a nasty gringing metal noise when I stop, but it doesnt do it all the time, I checked the front brakes but there ok, and the noise seems to be coming from the front so I didnt bother checking the rear????
n e ideas whats going on????

I just got back from the dealer, I mentioned the same problem. They say it's a common complain and although it's nothing to worry about, they are replacing the brakes for free. I suggest you do the same.

I also have had the squeal. I figured it was the rust forming on the drums and discs when its been humid or wet and you haven't driven it awhile. Although rust always forms on steel rotors and drums, the squeaking noise shouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised to see yet another recall on your Focus. Hopefully by accident they will replace the drums with discs in the back. HAHAHAHA

They are iron...not steel.

Squeeling happens on just about all makes (some less often than others), especially where the tolerances are loose. Two parts can be within spec (plus or minus a certain amount), but if you fit up two pieces that are both in spec but on the big side or small side, you can get strange vibrations causing squeeling. At least, that's all I can think of. Technically there is nothing wrong with any of the components, but you can see the problem and replacing one or both of the components should fix this, and the dealer should do so promptly. Anything involving the brakes is something they generally jump on pretty quick as its generally considered a safety issue (even though in this case its not). In your case, they'll probably just turn the rotors and perhaps swap the pads.

After having my rotors replaced once for Warping and I started to hear a grinding I decided to pull it all apart and look at it myself. I saw that the cheap @$$ pads had mperfections on the componds that were not wearing but wearing the rotor down. Swapped for EBC Greens. OMG what a diffrence..
