Please post if your ignition has locked!

Mine vas about $280 ig I remedber correctly. One nigxt the key just wouldn't!turn. <img src-"/ubbthreads/images/grammlins/fcown.gif" alt="" /> Had!to get her towed and everything/ Happened at arout 70,000 on my '00 LX!so no warranty, even thnugh it is a knovn problem with Gord. I0had an entire p`ge full0of notices and memos Ford service emplopees received regarding |he ignition. Hnpefully someday(it will make it to recall statuc and we can get!our $$ cack!

My ignition has locked and I am not happy, I have never heard of ignitions locking up untill the Focus came along. Please sound off if this has happened to you, I am a little curious as to the number of people this has happened to.

This happened to me a while back. One of the many reasons why I hate my Focus.

well I can let you know tommorrow after I pay to get mine done.. This happens along with the p.o.s egr sensor going bad not even two hundred miles after my warrenty expired.. this sux

Not to me, but to my sisters LX. She accidentaly(she was drunk) put her house key in the ignition, broke it off, had it replaced(by ford). About 3-5000 miles later it wont turn, the key will go in but it wont turn. So she ended up paying, I think, about $60.

I got my car back and it cost me $280! I get in my car and it has metal shavings all over the place (and now in my fingers) and the rubber part around the ignition isn't even replaced right!

I called the Ford customer service to tell them how this is bull and they said they didn't know about this happening. They were playing dumb and claimed unaware of this happening. We need to complain in mass if we want anything done about this becoming a recall.

I did a search and found 30 people who have posted that they have had this problem! I am thinking of taking Ford to small claims any suggestions?

I should be added to this list. although I've already called the Ford Motor Company and complained my ass off!!!,.. and i agree all of us who's been involved in this should call in order to grant a recall on this particular problem. Thats what the representative I talked to said,.. so why not take your time to do so if you havent.
Just experienced this faulty ignition cilinder tumbler yesterday and havent gotten it to be fixed since i'm looking at all of my options due to budget. I want to do this myself,.. but how,.. heres my problem.

I just got my ignition fixed i had to get a lock smith that works for Ford to come to my house and fix it. He put a whole new one in this was last month. I was at the gas station today and when i came back the key wouldnt turn again and i had to call ford to tow me out. I wont have my car for the 4th of july b/c well there closed. When will this problem be a recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yea if ur wondering how much it will cost. It was close to 200 bucks for me. You pay for the New part and you cant forget the labor pay =(

Yea guys this just happened to me about 2 days aog. I couldnt even go anywhere for the 4th, why do all of these darn cars seem to break at almost exactly the same time. I I went out to put the key in the ignition and it would go but halfway, Ive had a prob like this before but all I did was bend the key just slightly, and it worked fine up until 2 days ago, and now it wount even go in. This sucks put my name on that list abovce too. I gotta get it towed in today, so im waiting for the tow truck to get here. The service guy is really pretty cool down there, but he told me $300. thats including labor and everything, my other prob is my fuel pump. Does anyone know of a aftermarket one I can get for a 2000 year model? Focus Central has one but they say 2002 and up...

isnt that a sign of transmission (or some kind of problem, i forgot what kind) problems in the future? normally when you cant turn you key it means something is about to [censored] up. I had this happen in two cars (a pontiac and a honda) and they both clunked out later on.

I just got my estimate from ford. They said its guna be $325 thats with the car getting towed which was less then 3 miles

Put me on that list mine went out friday night. It cost me $92.and some change. When it locked I messed with it till it turned and took the key off till I fixed it. The service writer told that it would be $380 and he could not get it in till monday or tuesday I sais=d the heck with that it could not be that hard. So I went in to parts and asked if they had that part. He said it is a simple fix should not be more than aa half hour I said cool give me one. It was so simple to do the hardest part was to find the right key code for my key all you need is ruler that mesuers in millimeter. You insert the pins the springs and install the cover and presto one lock that works. And works with your old key It took me about 1 hour because I had to go to autozone to get a ruler in millimeter.
I still have the box so I will give the part #

That's good if you can turn the key. If you can't turn the key you have to drill it out. Slip one cm and you replace the whole steering column!
