Default Over Heating problem 2.0l (DTC P1289)

I have a overheating problem with my 2.0l focus 2001. the radiator fans come on
after 2 mins of starting the car. The engine management light comes on and the
diagnostic trouble code is p1289 (Cylinder Head Temp Sensor Out Of Self Test Range) does any one know why it overheats? could it be my waterpump or CHT sensor? or a blockage? oh yeah my car hasnt been running for a year........

Well according to the Ford service manual these could be the casuses..

Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Sensor Circuit High Input
Open circuit in CHT harness. (shorted circuit for PCM strategies released prior to 1999).
Damaged CHT sensor.
Improper harness connection.
Damaged PCM.

We dont really sell to many of the CHT but check the wiring going to it and if that fine the sensor is about $19, part number YS4Z6G004CC.
