Anyone heard of or know of a recall for the compressor housing on an 04 FOCUS ZX5? I am getting conflicting stories from the dealership and another mechanic.

Never heard anything on a compressor housing.
Are you talking about the A/C compressor housing? The manufactures would never recall just the housing they would recall the whole unit. There might be a Technical Service Bulletin on them or something. Alot of people think just because a manufacture says "If you see this problem here is what fixed some other cars." A lot of people seem to think this kind of stuff should be under warranty or a recall.

Yeah I think that is where they read it...in a tech bulletin. They checked the case and said that there was nothing wrong with it. I'm thinking maybe it's leaking into the car just because the case gets so cold that that it causes condensation to form....and leak all over my floorboard
One place said that I sould just replace it....$1200 fix. I only asked because I've seen people on here with a similar problem. |

no recall on that. what you are actually refering to is the evaporator case inside the car. what happens is the outlet drain gets clogged and the condensation will not drain out of the case. therefore it builds up on the inside and the leaks water out of the seams and also builds up excessive condensation on the case. I have been working with ford for 7 years now and everyone I have replaced was either through ford factory warranty, extended warranty companies or a customer pay job.
