I ran my first TSD Rally yesterday! - Focaljet

At the Calgary Sports Car Club yesterday, they were giving lessons in TSD navigation, finishing the day off with a short TSD rally, just a couple hours long.

It was a lot of fun! Right after the odometer check section, we took a wrong turn, but caught up after the second checkpoint... we lost huge points in the first section, but the second section we kicked ass... in the end, we came in third.

I really enjoyed this event. I'm hoping to do an actual one next month... my co-driver wants to develop a small rally computer for calculating our times, he was getting tired of the menial calculations

Good thing we're both engineers, maybe we'll come up with something cool.

This sounds like it would be great fun... I'm sure I would like to try something like this... the club I'm in has talked of doing this...but, not yet put it on their schedule...
I'm sure I would do much better at driving than navigating...though I'd love to give both a try

I drove, my friend navigated -- he got a big chunk of the work! He was finding it took a long time to calculate times, so we're gonna write some software for a handheld computer so we can calculate our times faster

Look around on the net daniel. there are lots of premade programs that do just that sort of thing. I may be down there this fall to run the Loop. Gotta see if my ex rally buddy can set me up with a halda. Glad to hear you had some fun at least.

I think I'm gonna run in the Mudlark Rally, May 8th. It's a bit longer, but looks like it would be really fun. I'll have a look around and see what's out there.
