Default Just signed up for lapping at Mosport May 21st!

I just signed up for 3.5 hours of lapping at Mosport! It's only $275 CDN, that's a great price. I can't wait!

First this, then a weekend of lapping at Shannonville June 23-24.

Let the torture test of the Focus begin!

I guess I better put some Synthetic fluid in when I change the oil next week.

And you'll get a report on the stock brakes (inluding stock pads!).

Great. Is there instruction available? I hope so as those events run without it are notorious for carnage. Do us all a favor (especially me since I am on offical track hiatus until Novemeber) and have a great time. Also, keep the shiny side up!

Im so tempted to sign up but the lapping day seems like its setup for those with moderate experience....

It would be my first open track experience and I could probably use an instructor for the first session just for advice...

P51, do they require any mods of the car to do this? I know Watkins Glen has something similiar but they require some mods. What I'm not sure but I remember a post on the Contour board about needing braided steel brake lines or they wouldn't let you on the track.

P-51,

I live 15 minutes from Mosport!
What time will you be there? I'd love to come down and atleast watch you tear up an Ex-F1 track. I just hope I get home early from Wasaga beach that weekend.

Dang, my Mosport event seems to be cancelled due to not enough participants.

Oh well, at least I've still got the one at Shannonville.

And more time to work on my car!

Damn, I guess while the Leafs are still in the playoffs no one is interested in anything else, eh?

Yeah, I guess?

But apparently the organizer is teaming up with www.trackmasters.com to have some more events. So with luck I'll still get out there this year.

Damn, I knew I shoulda signed up. Oh well. Im still keeping my eye out for a day with novice instruction before the June 23 event so I can get some safe "at speed" practice outside of the country roads out by Rockcliffe.

Im targetting that event to have the FocusSport Flywheel, Clutchmasters
Stage III and Quaife installed. Its gonna be fun pulling on Porsches through the corners.

Chris F-
I am curious about the clutch upgrade- is the stock one already on the "way out"?? or since you are doing the diff, you feel you might as well do the clutch too?

just wondering how stock Focus clutches are holding up....thanks

Also wondering if a Contour SVT (or an V6 for that matter) clutch might work since it is an MTX75.

No, no, my stock clutch is fine. However in the future I plan to install a turbo system which will probably make > 200lb/ft to the wheels. I dont expect the stock clutch to last long under that. Seeing as how im already taking apart most of the tranny for the Quaife install I figured this would be a good time to save on future labour.

Unfortunately, I probably wont be doing the clutch right now for a couple reasons.

- Turbo development has been slow. Ill be surprised if we see the FocusSport kit before fall and the Incon one seems to have been a cruel joke. Its not really a bad thing. The last thing I want is a POS turbo kit that blows my engine so I dont care how long it takes as long as its done right. Turbos are not something you want to do halfassed... I want to see a proper kit with proper fueling by either bigger injectors (prefferable) or an additional injector and a matched ECU program or proper complete engine management system available. Needs an intercooler as well.

If the kits are only available late in fall it may be next spring before my car sees a kit since theres no real point in installing a kit mid winter. Unless of course I can get one at cost for "cold weather testing".

- Since the clutch is a wear item (and trust me my clutch gets a decent bit of abuse ) I might as well get as much use out of the stock one as possible.

- Money has become a bit tight recently. Things are sort of grim at work. It looks like the product im working on will be cut tomorrow. Im expecting to either be layed off or redeployed. Not great.
Probably redeployed however since the remaining people on the project (this is round 4 of layoffs) are all the 75th+ percentile workers and it would a bad move to lay off all the smart engineers. Then again nothing much surprises me anymore these days when it comes to corporate policy...
