Groot-
good to see your posts again!! any chance of you getting back out to San Diego again? we even had plenty of standing water and hail(!!) on 4/21 for those of you who think we are waaaay too spoiled Solo people. The Helsinki stylin'runs were fun of course with almost noone on anything resembling tires for the wet. of course the next day's event was 80 dgs and sunny. as always 200 or so cars- 80-90 second runs and not one FOCUS..... I guess I will HAVE to run mine soon but the HS turnout is still pretty weak... have fun ------------------ HOWZ about more go, less show....... 2001 pitch black ZX3 "special order"- no power- Premium Grp + Advance-Trac 1984 VW GTI 2.0 16v "Street Mod" Auto-Xer 1900lbs/155hp- (refereed and certified C.A.R.B. swap)Schrickcams,GarretECU,Bilstein Gruppe1,H&R GruppeG45O/300,KumhoVictoracer,Shine bar,Porterfields,Techtonics Exh. 1979 VW RABBIT Diesel "S.U.V." 45mpg Surfmobile- wipe your feet after getting OUT-(C.A.R.B.'s evil smoking nemesis) [This message has been edited by ZXmurph (edited 05-07-2001).] |

At last years San Diego National Tour I saw a Focus (it was the first time I saw one autocross), March 00, I believe.
The guy had come down from the Bay Area for the National Tour. He was an excellent driver and did quite well, but there wasn't much HS competition. That's one thing about Southern California, not a lot of the "slower" stock classes. A lot of SS-CS, but not much DS-HS. But a fairly large FSP (used to be DSP) field for us VW drivers!! ------------------ 00 HS Focus ZX3 78 ITC VW Scirocco, totalled and out of commission ![]() 73 Porsche 914, 2.0L 84 Rabbit GTi, ITB car in process |

233 cars showed up for the first CENDIV event. Very long coarse, reminds me of the San Diego events (85 seconds one direction and 81 the other in the Focus). 3 Foci ran in HS, me and two others (excellent guys, but they were on street tires and it was their 3rd auto-x ever). Two Hondas also ran. The Honda drivers smoked us, but they were seasoned vets and have been running the same cars for 3 years.
Actually, I was only 1.6 seconds behind the 2nd place Honda after 2 days, so I'm okay with that. I still need more seat time in the Focus, but I really need to get some dampers. So far, the only changes I've made are tires (BFGs) and oil. Does anyone else plan on competing in HS in the CENDIV events? ------------------ 00 HS Focus ZX3 78 ITC VW Scirocco, totalled and out of commission ![]() 73 Porsche 914, 2.0L |

And, oh, yeah...
I was out in San Diego over the Easter break for my buddy's 4th 30th birthday party. There were no autocrosses scheduled, unfortunately. Spent much of the weekend with ample doses of Vitamin T coarsing through the veins. Tequila always tastes better in San Diego (or Baja Mexico). I'll be out that way again in Nov. |
