No, no, my stock clutch is fine. However in the future I plan to install a turbo system which will probably make > 200lb/ft to the wheels. I dont expect the stock clutch to last long under that. Seeing as how im already taking apart most of the tranny for the Quaife install I figured this would be a good time to save on future labour.
Unfortunately, I probably wont be doing the clutch right now for a couple reasons.
- Turbo development has been slow. Ill be surprised if we see the FocusSport kit before fall and the Incon one seems to have been a cruel joke. Its not really a bad thing. The last thing I want is a POS turbo kit that blows my engine so I dont care how long it takes as long as its done right. Turbos are not something you want to do halfassed... I want to see a proper kit with proper fueling by either bigger injectors (prefferable) or an additional injector and a matched ECU program or proper complete engine management system available. Needs an intercooler as well.
If the kits are only available late in fall it may be next spring before my car sees a kit since theres no real point in installing a kit mid winter. Unless of course I can get one at cost for "cold weather testing".
- Since the clutch is a wear item (and trust me my clutch gets a decent bit of abuse

) I might as well get as much use out of the stock one as possible.
- Money has become a bit tight recently. Things are sort of grim at work. It looks like the product im working on will be cut tomorrow. Im expecting to either be layed off or redeployed. Not great.
Probably redeployed however since the remaining people on the project (this is round 4 of layoffs) are all the 75th+ percentile workers and it would a bad move to lay off all the smart engineers. Then again nothing much surprises me anymore these days when it comes to corporate policy...
