Default Same camber question

How have you guys increased your negative camber on your Focus? Did it decrease the amount of plowing in the turns? Thanks.

I've called a handful of local parts departments only to get the same answer. They have no idea what I'm talking about when I ask about a camber kit for my car. Am I asking for the right part? Would any of you happen to have the part number? And, once again, do any of you have this installed in your car?

I can't help you much, but I have this in an email from Myron Steere on the FocusSolo group on Yahoo Groups. It was posted on 15 April, 2001

quote:
Purchase the smaller diameter (12mm) control arm bolts and nuts and
replace the 14mm that are currently in the car - be sure to tighten things
down - this gives you between 1 and 1.5 degrees of camber and within stock
spec - most Foci are at zero degrees.

He was giving tips to another autocrosser on alignment settings. I've heard these bolts refered to as 'crash bolts' in the past.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

[EDIT] Here's the link to the group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/focusolo You can click on April to see the posting.

That other autocrosser was me! Unfortunately, I don't have the answer either. Is there some one else who might know?

Bought them last year. I autocross. They helped but good tires are more helpful. Think yokohama stickies. Special ordered
Bolts FO-W500550-s309

Nuts FO-W703217-s309

They go in bottom a arm on inside pivot. Confused the hell out of me at first. I thought they went on strut. About $8 here

aspire,

Do you know how much the bolts changed the camber? Is it worth it? Were you able to compare the car before and after with the same tires? Did it decrease the plowing? Any other comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since installing my H&R suspension my front camber is -1.6 and rear -1.8. Are you looking for more neg. camber than this?

I have the bolts and will make a full report once I get them in. Hopefully that will be before the autocross Sat., but with a newborn, one never knows.
