![]() I miss reading his stuff too. That was one of his last five posts here on [FJ]... My apologies to those who knew him better, I hope my post is not too insensitive...

I knew Gary mostly through his posts, but did have the pleasure of sharing the track with him at Limerock and crewing for him the following day.
Quality guy. His signature was... __________________ a money pit passing through the east coast on a trailer Speaking of that, anyone know where Squirt is today?

i think sean and bri (or hal?) might be resurrecting squirt for a new level of money pit passing thru the east coast on a trailer.
I have only had the pleasure of meeting him for a couple days, but obviously his character left a mark. billy idol!

Um... maybe this isn't the best place to ask this but... what happened to Gary? I haven't been around much the past year, but this sounds ominous.
I'd search, but search doesn't seem to work for me at work.

Wow, I didn't see that. Sorry to hear. I don't pay much attention to stickies.
So, what happened to him? In his sleep? Complications from his surgery?

Time to kickstart this thread. Focuses are slow piles of crap and I will decimate any one that challenges me on a track.
as long as they are driven by blind quadriplegics with tourette's syndrome. You can quote me on that.

Yeah, we miss him a ton. Our little east-coast trackratpack has kinda dissolved without the crazy bastard's insane cheerleading.
Regarding Squirt - I'm not aware of any efforts to get her back on track. It was something we talked about during a beer-filled night, but truth is that none of us know Gary's wife terribly well, and no one felt quite right about reaching out and trying to take Squirt off of her hands. Truth is, the air's been let out of our little gang, and we just haven't re-filled it. ****ing hell - what a shamefully depressing and not fun thread. My apologies, old man. This is weaksauce. Let's try a little harder to honor the memory, and ramble a bit here. <reboot> Who would win (and why) in a Spec Focus race: Jim Clark, The Buddha, Bruce Lee, or Speed Racer? We could make it a challenge series, like the old and much better IROC, but with fire and tiger sharks instead of armco. **** yeah! |

I'd have to think that anything Zen-powered could levitate to better lap times.

True, Lorin, but I'm talking more about the classic Buddha, the Buddha of compassion. Leaving his obvious sublime touch aside, I am concerned about his killer instinct. (See also: Jenson Button)
Early money is on Bruce Lee, if you ask me. Probably the best equipped to cope with fire and Tiger Sharks. Also, I'm feeling like--despite my obvious affection for Focuses--we need a seixer chariot for our heroes. Open to suggestions here. |

We need to know the location of the race. We all know Speed Racer is susceptible to driving over his head on European courses.

Challenge series. Variety of tracks.
Nordschleife, Grand Central Parkway at rush hour, Baja, Continental Divide...um... Listen, man: we're still in the planning stages. We welcome contributions here. Unfortunately, despite the political power of the Buddha, we won't be able to run on any ISC tracks. That damned France family is tough... |

Well, crap.
I've been away for a while as well and just now ran across all this. I traded emails, PMs and banter with Gary quite a bit a couple of years ago. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I definitely enjoyed typing back and forth at him from the keyboard. He seemed like a stand-up guy, always had a lot of humor and helpfulness to pass around. Bummer. ![]() Kinda hard to get into a banter mood now...give it a bit... |
