You have to take the car, or have the guy come to you. The WDL plugs into your OBD port under the steering, not into the ECU directly.

you need to have the PATS reprogrammed, do you have to take it to a dealer to have this done, and do you have to take the car or just the ecu box and the key? really need to know i got all the parts and am just about ready to start the project.

A Ford dealership will probably NOT touch this project. U will need to either do it yourself or have a indepentent shop do it.

OK

I know it has been awhile since I updated this. I computer took a dump on me and it took me awhile to get it. Plus, I had to get a job!

I got the car back together and everything swapped out and installed. I got the car to crank, but it would not fire up. I finally (after replacing the CRANK POSISTION SENSOR 4 times) found out recently, that if you use the engine that came with your automatic Focus, you must replace the CRANK POSISTION SENSOR MOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mount is located on the side of the block, UNDERNEATH the FLYWHEEL!!!!!!!! This sucked because I had to remove my tranny, clutch, and flywheel to spend 30 secounds to replace that stupid mount. Now I just have to get the tranny back in and try again. I will update again once the project is complete!

Cool - glad to hear you're still alive.

That stupid crank sensor mount has driven more than a few people nuts. I know SceviourZX3 recently went through the exact same ordeal as you.

Just a quick question.

Hey Frog, you have the Zetec, right? Would this swap work with a Duratec?

I don't know if the instructions that I have posted will work 100% with the duratec, but it would be a similar process.

Yea I'm about to do a tranny swap on my2000 ZX3 Kona this next summer. Right now I'm just gathering parts. Does anyone know how much of a power difference I'm gonna see out of this? I have cams, cam gears, aEM intake, cat back exhaust, 4-2-1 headers, underdrive pulley, fs chip. Pm me if you need to but i want to know how much i'm gonna see out of it. I'm at 129 SAE now. Also PM me if there are other parts i need or don't need from the list above. Thanks for all your guys' support. This project will be well worth it.

Howdy fellas. I am looking to help one of your fellow members with this very swap. It is a ZX3 Zetec. Now, what I would like is the Ford wiring book. I seen one of the schmatics posted in here and the whole book would be helpful. I see the VSS sensors are different but I can fix that with one wire. Since the ATX has a 2 wire and they are common to the MTX, you just need to run a seperate power wire, but I need a PCM pin-out to find out where. I've already done this swap in a ZX2 and completed a step-by-step write up and posted it on Team ZX2, you can veiw it here: http://www.teamzx2.com/index.php?opt...=2&topic=874.0 I was hoping to find something like that here. I was a bit concerned reading through the first two pages that all you were replacing was the CPS sensor, the sensors are probably the same, it is the housing that is different. The MTX housing is shorter and allows the sensor to sit next to the flywheel. The ATX flexplate sits closer to the block so the sensor has to be pulled back. But, I seen this was discovered in later post. If you all would be willing to share your knowledge and possibly donate a Ford wire book for this car, I would be willing to do a write-up like the one I did for the ZX2. With the wire book, I could devise a way that would not require replacing the engine PCM harness.

well, in case anyone was wondering I completed my tranny swap without switching the harness or the ecu/pats and everything seems to be working fine. I just rewired the harness, disabled the tranny functions with a chip and swapped all the mechanical parts over and wala!! hehe

I know, alot of people have been asking for one. I've just been busy getting the bugs worked out of my car lately and haven't thought of doing the writeup. I'm dropping it off tommorrow for final tuning and dynoing so I'll have more time this week.
