nice stuff, the best he's got for sure.
my question is....if with the stuff listed above, I would think it will just bolt in, and away you go. But with a higher stall convertor (like they mention in the article I posted) is it going to have the ECU wondering what's up if you raise your stall 600 rpm or whatever....and how to deal with this? |

No, the car won't run that fast, because;
The 2.3 ATX that has been to the track has trapped a best of 101mph, eliminating that possibility. Because; The more powerful car did not lose 7mph of trap due to his trans. And you're less powerful car did not put 7mph on him w/ even less PSI and a built trans. I'd say the track was 'fast' or the timing was just wrong. However, if you can go out and run the same run at another track, i'll eat my words. Also, your car 'turned down boost' is not going to get better mileage ![]() FS Stage 2 cars get 30+mpg if you STAY OUT OF BOOST, so keep it where you want it and get good mileage by controlling your right foot. 6psi or 11psi is not going to make a difference, boost is boost. - Drew

Ouch!
I hope to see some more development from the increasing nimber of ATX build-ups. Though expensive out of pocket. I guess We'll just see.

Going to have to disagree slightly about gaining 7mph. Seeing how I have an atx and put 20k miles on it in 6 months, I have abit of knowledge on it. My best trap speed was 102mph and that was spinning all the way through 1st gear into second and the mph dropping down about 6mph when it finally got in gear. The biggest slowdown of acceleration was the 2-3 shift which is notorious in most ATX foci. With a built transmission with the added friction plates, I could see that loss of acceleration definitely minimized to non-noticeable at the strip. I could definitely run a 104-105 with traction, and I could see how 107mph is attainable although I will agree that doing it on 9PSI is kinda hard to believe...Even if Brian is a good friend of mine. Track musta been slightly off or something. I was running 12PSI on a 2.3l and not coming close to that...

My stock 4F27E when it had 30K miles on it achieved the 1-2 shift in 500-milliseconds; that was with fresh fluid and a Lentech VB.
After I rebuilt it with with Alto red frictions, Kolene steels; and most importantly had my SCT tune made with "automatic transaxle adaptive learning" turned off and pressures bumped 25% ; that shift time is now 150-milliseconds! This is all logged using a X2, using only those rpms that are locked to a gear. That is the only part that is better than a manual. I can shift faster than you , or at least my car can .

I had a chat with Len. I asked him about the diff ratio, they are using stock. Also, for the convertor, he recommends a stock stall speed unless you are going to dedicate to the strip. Same with the trans brake option. But he did strongly believe in getting the aluminum finned convertor....stocker has plastic fins.....has anyone detonated a stocker yet?

Nope, my stock TC held up fine. It was the direct clutch/drum assebly that blew up.
In fact I purchased the TCS through Tousley Ford because I could get it for $190, otherwise I would have just bought a stock TC. If you are are using forced induction, get hevy duty TC.

This thread has many really good ATX facts. Maybe a edited version with a sticky?
