It's pretty simple. Remove the two bolts, remove tranny mount, install new tranny mount, install two bolts. The engine's weight is supported by the driver and passenger side mounts. To get the tranny mount in, you will have to rock the engine a bit. Should take about 10 minutes after the car has been raised and placed on jackstands. Good luck.

I had to remove the tranny bracket to reinstall mine. It's only 3 extra bolts. still real easy.

I put the urithane bushing into the stock mount. Bought before the one piece replcement was available.

Thats how I did mine, and the other umpteen I've installed. Be careful it is aluminum.

I did that my first attempt on my zetec car. At least with the duratec, there is enough room when the engine is clocked (valve cover towards firewall)

Yeah, I also removed the mount bracket when I did mine. As was said before, three extra bolts and that gave me all of the room that I needed to do the trick. Very easy "upgrade" to do.

I have the MAC on my car...I've seen the poly bushings come apart...but how the heck did you break it?? Must be snatching some hard gears...??

Question Re: Lower Tranny Mount Diagram

The MSS Unbreakable looks like they took a stock mount and pressed in new poly bushings. Or is it just me. I thought about getting one but if thats all they actually did then I'll just press new one in mine. But I could be completely wrong as well.

^^^ COMPLETELY WRONG, the MSS unbreakable is almost TWICE the size as a stock mount!

^^ Very SOLID an STIFF, shifts great on high HARD shifts. The only flaw that "could" potentially bother you? Is that, it makes the whole car vibrate at idle, hahah especailly wit the AC on. But that dont bother me

We have the CFM lower mount in stock. PM me for pricing.

I believe the MSS "Unbreakable" is the revised OEM Ford unit that comes on the Duratec vehicles with new polyurethane bushings.

The biggest issue with replacing one of the bushings (out of the three mounts) is that you induce other harmonics in the engine movement that were not originally there since the durometer of the 3 mounts rubber was the same. When you replace only the lower mount there is additional movement that has to be accounted for by the upper mounts and this accounts for the failures of either the upper mounts or the replacement lower mount.

If you are going to replace the lower mount, I would recommend getting all three mounts, otherwise you will be replacing the others in due time, or replacing the upgraded mount.

Keep the durometer of the polymers the same among all three motor mounts.

Some people will complain about excess vibration with all three mounts; however, this can be tuned out by adjusting the motor position in the engine bay.

We carry the CFM and the Steeda units. We also have used OEM replacements if you are in need.

Cheers,
Brian

totally disagree

If that were the case, people would complain about tranny and passenger mounts breaking, and I havn't heard of one yet due to a lower tranny mount. It's like saying "due to the extra pressure buildup inside the combusion chambers from running a boosted application, there's alot more stress on the stock rods and pistons, as well as the valvetrain if you run into high rpms. We recommend getting forged internals as well as a complete turbo build setup to ensure this doesn't happen. Maybe an oil sump baffle as well, and it's always best to have abit more oil so get the balance shaft delete...don't forget you took out that BS so you'll have more vibrations so well, we don't sell anything for that so get used to it. You'll also need gauges and maybe a bigger fuel pump"...nice sales pitch though! lol.

I've seen many broken and/or well worn upper mounts after replacing the lower one.

Futzing with unmatched durometers isn't the best idea.

yea well 24k hard turbo miles in 6 months, so hard I destroyed an engine and 6 months later a transmission. An engine and a tranny rebuild done separate and using the stock mounts as braces one at a time and bending and contorting the crap out of them for a week apiece for each maintenance evolution, and they are still in good shape These stock mounts are VERY durable. All of this with a VF lower mount BTW.

Is it misaligned somehow? The new tranny I placed on my transmission had a bracket that was facing ever so slightly inbooard towards the passenger side and I have a little bit of stress on the mount this way. I think If you have enough engine movement this would cause the mount or the bracket to break.

My roommate did the same thing. Stock mounts all around as well.

I Thought About Getting Either Stiffer Mounts Or Bushings For Them And I Already Bought A Stiffi And Still Broke One Because The Side That Mounts To The Tranny Is Still Broken And The Only Way To Fix It Is To Buy A New Tranny And Thats Not Gonna Happen Anytime Soon
