Difficulty getting into gear. - Focaljet

Every once in a while, I'll hop in the car, start it up, and try to shift into gear, and it just won't let me in the gate. It's usually Reverse (since I'm usually trying to back out of the driveway) but it affects other gears as well. This is totally sporadic--maybe 1 out of 20 times or so. Some times trying other gears and then going back to First or Reverse will work fine, but occasionally I will have no choice but to absolutely jam it into gear, and it feels like I'm about to break the shifter off. Other than this occasion issue, the trans is perfect. Only about 40K on it and it's been treated very well (the car is mint).

Is this a linkage adjustment issue? If so, why is it so sporadic/random?

I am guessing that this is a Manual..

How does the clutch fill nice and firm like always? or do you notice it being soft when it happens?

Yep, manual, as mentioned in the sig.

Clutch is fine. Everything about the car feels and drives like brand new. It's just that once or twice a week the shifter doesn't want to go in the gate for some reason. Forcing it in does work, but it doesn't feel right.

my zx3 does that from time to time. All I had to do was go under the hood on the right by the brake booster is the two cables coming from the shifter and they are attached to a bracket. All you gotta do is tighten those cables.
