OK, I'm ready to re-install my halfshaft and the workshop manual says to install a new circlip on the Pside halfshaft.
Problem is, I can't find a source to sell it to me.
Local Ford dealer think they have the part and it cost $26.00, but it's special order.

WTF?

Can you re-use the old one?

most people reuse it. But if you ask Terry Haines, he will tell you what a horrible idea this is and show you pictures of diffs that have been busted up by circlips that came loose or broke.

USE A Long 1/4 inch drive extension. Remove passenger side axle. Stick socket end of extension through differential. There is a cross pin that runs through the center so you go off to one side of the pin and angle the extension so that it is on the shaft of the drivers side axle. A couple light taps with a hammer and it will come free.

TORSEN Differentials do not have a cross pin in the way but instead have a hole right in the middle which lets this method still work.
