Default tranny problems

when i was home last right before i left 5th and 6th gear went out on me. the shift linkage came off for 5th and 6th so i tightened it and it came off again. the ford dealership sayd i would need new cables. anyone else have these problems or have any tips for installation?

ive heard of alot of people putting zip ties around them to help them stay on... worth a shot before you go an buy new cables... and i dont think you need new cables just the linkages...

oh just to update u on this when i was home i replaced the tranny cables and it worked just fine the old cable connectors were busted to hell i guess the car was beat to hell before i bought it

also rockin a black 2000 zx3 thats stock except for the full obx exhaust catless with a fart can(came with the car bought it for 3k last time home on leave)
