where to buy SVT axles? - The Ford Focus Forum

I've been chasing a sound that may be a bad transmission
I've replaced the clutch/flywheel but still have the sound
yesterday I pulled the axles again in preparation for pulling the trans...

the carrier bearing on the Right side looks suspect..
I checked with Napa (can't get) and the dealer (700)

anyone have a more affordable source for full axles?
I'd be happy to replace only the carrier bearing, but don't see that available seperately...

anyone else ever had a carrier bearing go bad?

I think they've got the bearings for either side separate.

Right side $219.00
Left side $184.00

I do believe that O'reillys can get reman shafts for a lot less but I have no idea as to the quality.

that is a killer price Steve!

I can't imagine how it would be installed, but would the carrier bearing be available seperate?....

I kinda doubt it as I think the CV would have to come apart to install it but it can't hurt to ask.

Those bearings make some scary noises when they go bad. I've replaced a few of them lately. Typically they make the noise loudest when cold and making right turns.

Napa carries a passenger side axle for the svt Pt# NMD 957242 List price 79.95 It's reman with a core charge.

wait are you replacing the axles? because I was at AutoZone and an SVTF axle for the passenger side was 69 bucks plus tax. I only found that out because I have to replace the passenger side axle in my SVTF since the universal joint is so loose its allowing the axle to slip out of the trans enough to leak oil EVERYWHERE!

There are no universal joints on any Focus axles. BTW, does anyone know if the RH support bearing can be sourced seperately? I couldn't find a number on my old bearing to cross reference.
