Default need answer asap!!

Do you need an trans seal puller to get the driver side and passenger side axle seals out? it appears as though both my seals are shot and so is my passenger side axle (universal joint is all eff'd up and allows the axle to slip out of transmission)

It would really help if u had a seal puller. people say screwdrivers work and such but I did my passenger side seal recently and i tried with a screwdriver of all different sizes. I am sure it can be done but I tried for 2 hours with a screwdriver (while the trans was in the car still) and then I went to autozone and grabbed a $9.99 seal puller and it took me 20 mins.

Wait a second are they seals or steal bearings where the axles enter the transmission?

ok well i do not own an SVT Focus but from my understanding the only thing different is that the drivers side seal has a different part number than the passenger side seal. and no they are not steel bearings, but there is a pesky metal ring that is part of the whole contraption(which looks like a bearing). its a metal ring with a flange of sorts which fits into the trans and has a rubber skirt which seals the axle, with a ring like spring to keep everything tight.

i hope that helps..

The svt focus axle seals are very very easy compared to the mtx75. Using a seal puller or a flathead screwdriver you can pop them out. They don't need a seal installer to be reinstalled. Use a little bit of grease arround the outside and the new seals pop in by hand. Make sure you have the correct seals before removing the old ones. They are different diameters right & left also.
