Got the Dayton in tonight and no question, it smokes the stock sub and absolutely outperforms the JBL. Much crisper bass, not muddy at all and a really nice punch when you crank it up.
That said, obviously the JBL would be the winner given a better amp but the system as is works perfectly for me.
I'm happy again
The door speakers are surprisingly good for factory bits. The 3 door rear speakers, AFAIK, aren't so much. As you may or may not know, the 5 door rear speakers are the same as the fronts. You might find a little improvement swapping your 3 door rears to 5 door rears.
Personally I have the front/rear fade set to about 90% front and the rears set to about a 120 Hz crossover for just a little bit of fill. It mirrors a concert environment better than having all four blaring at top note. That's just me though.
If you own a ZETEC Focus, your alternator is either broken or about to be.
Odds are if the head unit does die I'll just track down another one. I do have the Triptunes kit installed so even if the CD player craps out I can always plug into my phone or an I-pod.
I used to think that way too. When my CD player finally ate my CDs, I went ahead and tried an aftermarket unit. I found one that looks like it could be a factory unit and has more features plus it can also be wired into the steering wheel controls.
Steve, which sound setting do you use on your Audiophile? Front, Driver, or All?
