Default Mustang tb Conversion Help

I have the mustang throttle body and I am using the instructions on this site to convert it. I am making my own adapter plates and I just noticed on the ones in the how to that there is a brass pin on the top plate that goes into the mustang tb. I was wondering if I need that b/c it has the cutout on the bottom of the tb that will flow into the tb intake. I haven't taken off the stock tb yet but i'm guessing there is a hole in the plate that will flow into the tube that goes into the side of the factory tb mounting plate. I'm just a little confused as to what all the holes that I have drilled into the tb for the air passages actually do.

Also is there any way to make the tps off of the focus work on the mustang tb?

I can't really help you much there friend. I just bought the BDR Throttle body. The TPS stayed the same for mine, I really have no clue as to whether it can stay for the Mustang tb swap. Sorry I can't help ya more!

send a pm to Gigaherz, you should get all the answers, or links to answers you need. I don't know if mine has a TPS from a foci or a pony, it was already on the TB when I bought it. If the rain lets up I'll go out and get a part number from my TPS to give you an idea of what's on it.

(heh, come to think of it, I should probably know that also.. )

you have to use a mustang tps...

if you block off the exposed part of the iac channel in the bottom of the tb then you don't need the tube otherwise yes you need the tube. You can fill the passage and then drill out the hole for the iac. IT has to be sealed otherwise the iac won't do anything and the car will idle really high or the compter will go nuts trying to keep the rpm's down somehow.

Ok, I got the mustang tps and had to order the focus gasket from ford today and it will be there in the morning for me to pick up. I drilled the holes for the iac in both plates and blocked off the little opening at the bottom of the tb.

The only other thing I need to know is the iac holes that i drilled, are they going to line up with a hole on the motor to tb mount? I guess there is a hole and it connects into the black tube in the side of the mount.

If anyone is wondering I got 2 of the edelbrock tb adapter plates and used them for the mounting, I did it all with a cordless drill and some taps, it was definatly time consuming trying to get all the holes lined up and drilled straight but it turned out pretty good so far.

you have to grind a channel or passage into the bottom of the adapter plate where the iac hole for the mustang tb is to direct the flow to the iac cavity in the manifold.
