Default question about dragging this engine

so, me and a bunch of friends are going to a 3 day LAN Party, that also happens to be during the exhibition (like a fair, rides and crap), the irish festival, and is 10min from a drag track. needless to say, we're gonna stop by the track for some fun.

2lt SPI, stock everything, 4F27E auto tranny

questions: how should i launch? have it in D and just slam the pedal once the light goes green? or in neutral, bit of gas to keep the rpm higher, then slam into d and put my foot down?

lastly, think i'll be a stock 2001 Chrysler Sebring? thats my "main" competition lol

I'm under the impression that keeping it in neutral, revving, and then shifting to drive is one of the worst things you can do to your tranny. However...it might not hurt once in awhile...:-) Also, what are you planning to prove at a track with a stock spi, even if you had done stuff to it we are still slow as hell. That sebring will probably blow you away...just like every other car that uses gas on the road! Lmao

put it in low gear, mash the brake, and the gas, and release brake in the third yellow, and have at it, at about 5800, push the selector up a notch, and keep doing that till you are in D, and have fun.

waste of gas, but just toss it in drive and get after it, the extra .001 you might gain my manually shifting wont be worth it since you prob dont have a tach to watch anyway.

Cool Re: question about dragging this engine

Brake torquing would be the best and safest way so you don't damage your trans. Put in drive Mash the brakes and hold the gas down, light goes . Givin you'll probly get a 17 sec fastest with an spi stock auto. My friend back in Missouri has a 13.5 sec NA SPI manual sedan. It'll cook, and he's got plenty time to do more stuff.

Lets not Mash the SPI there is an actual division for it.

Playing around in the parking lot meaning that no laws were broken, right?

Right?
