So I am getting this really nasty noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. I pulled the valve cover and everything appears to be in order there. Could this be the passenger motor mount? There is a clunking noise which follows engine speed. Also the car can barely move itself. You have to give it some throttle to get it to start, and I was about at WOT backing up my driveway.
If it is the mount, is this the part "Mount, focus, front - 2.0l sohc - 2.0L SOHC" on the Tousley page what I need? There is no exploded diagram for it. Car is an 01 SE w/ about 120k on it. Thanks folks. |

A motor mount wont cause it to have problems with going somewhere...that would be something in the motor.
any CEL?

If you need a new piston when you get into the repairs, let me know. I have a stock pile of them & they are on backorder from ford.

The engine may not be junk. I just fixed one of these. It was cheaper to get new pistons & a reman head for it than buy an engine. The only thing to worry about is if the cylinder walls get damaged.
Also make sure that cylinders 1 & 4 don't have damage as well. I think what hapened is your cylinder number 3 dropped the seat and a piece went into the intake manifold and then into cylinder #2. You can wet test cylinders # 1 & 4 by turning the engine so they are about mid way in the cylinder and then fill them with an inch of oil. If the oil is gone by the next day then those pistons are damaged too. Make sure to get the rods checked as well. If you need any help sourcing parts let me know as it took a while to find a std piston set.

OK, Looking for a little help here. Got a replacement motor, but I can't remember where all the hoses and such go. Check out the attached pics.
![]() It's been so long since the engine was together I forgot where the pipe that runs across the top goes. Also there is another port on the valve cover that is a mystery. ![]() Anything go into the bottom of the air box? I didn't think so, but could be mistaken ![]() This hose is a coolant hose off of the water pump. Figured out where the other two hoses connect, but am missing this one. ![]() Lastly on this one here, I'm wondering if anyone knows which ports are for what on the intake manifold. I've got two that right now have no hoses to connect to them. ![]() TIA |
