Hello.. I am new to this board and I am wondering what year Escort 2.0 SPI blocks will interchange with the Focus ?? I have done a few of these with rebuilt heads and pistons but I have a deal going on a 01 Focus Se with 112,000 mi. on it it is super clean 1 owner but the rod broke due to the piston destroying itself and put a hole in the block This is almost too good of a car to pass up .. any help would be appreciated .. Thanks !!!

I dont think any of them cross to Escorts and vice versa.
I believe it was Gigaherz that found out the hard way but its been awhile.

I believe none direct swap. I know Jim had a few heads laying around and showed me what wouldn't work. I guess w/ machining it would, but with that amount of work, just why not just swap engines or port the **** out of the OE head, amirite?
Of course, the take-away being, if the Escort heads won't swap to our block, then I'm certain Escort blocks won't swap to our heads.

Giggy said somthing about the mounting boss for the drive shaf half shaft missing on the Escort Block.
Escorts dont have equel legnth drive shafts, so there's no need for a mounting.

It does'nt matter what the year is, Escorts never had equal length drive shafts (CVH/SPI SOHC) So there will be no mounting boss on the block for it.

I own an Escort and find this pretty interesting. I have actually compared the intake manifolds myself because I wanted to use the focus intake manifold but there wouldn't be enough common studs to ensure a tight mount so I scrapped the idea (literally).

But, I'd make sure it has good valve seats before I did that.
