I'm a little worried about purchasing these mounts. I don't know if I want VF or these?

I think they have re-designed the mounting points on it to have a broader surface area, but don't quote me

Is there a reason that the cross section at that point is thinned? I have an 06 and haven't looked at replacing mine yet and believe the mounts are a bit different for the Dtec but conventional wisdom would suggest that if the mount does not need the area thinned between the mounting boss and the bushing it should be left as thick as at least the bushing side of the mount. There is a lot of strength lost and with the sharp corners inside corners in that area it creates a perfect stress point and perfect place for stress to crack and cause the mount to fail.

To tell the truth, I'm beginning to think that it's normal for Steeda's parts to break in critical areas. The only Steeda part I have on my car had to be re-welded after it broke:
![]() IMO, the picture above is what the weld should have looked like in the first place. The weld that broke was barely more than a spot weld at the base of the juntion between the two pieces of metal. It broke on an easy-going 2-3 upshift on a residential road going about 30 mph...

Redneck science in action: in order for me to remove my old mount from the bracket without a vice, I simply wedged the whole assembly under the tire on my car and got a big @ss breaker bar and stepped on it. Broke it loose lickety split.

I have never been impressed with any of the Steeda parts. I have seen there short shifter break, and now this.
To anyone going to purchase mounts just play it safe and go with the VF ones.

There is a catch though, no? When my shifter broke I was told by an employee over the phone that since I wasn't the original purchaser (I bought the car from another Jetter), I had no warranty....

So what's the answer to the last question? Does the Waranty void on the part "IF" it breaks and your not the original buyer? |

almost every warranty is like that. when you sell the car, the new owner does not get any warranties.... now..if you knew the person you bought the car from, you could always have the original owner make the phone call.......... just sayin...

That is correct. Warranty applies to original owner. This is standard for ANY aftermarket or automotive components.
