I had to ask someone this question. This is the answer I was told:

"He would basically need a tach signal adapter to wire into the car, then the shift light would wire to the tach adapter."

I hope this helps.

I use to have one of these. Just tap in to a hot and ground wire ( I tapped mine into wires in the headlight switch ) and then run the signal wire to pin# 48 on the ECU main harness
Easy as pie

I've got one mounted in a pillar gauge pod and love it, I bought a tach driver when I installed mine last year sometime and it wasn't hard. At the time I didn't know about getting the signal from the ecu, but my ford racing tach driver does the trick.

There are a few different settings within the gauge that interprets the crank position sensor signal differently if it was on a different motor (v6, v10, etc). If you just flip through them (theres maybe 4 or 5) its obvious which is correct because the rpm's are way off for the other choices.

They also have like 3 brightness levels and you can turn off the numerical display and just use it as a shift light if you like, and btw the shift light is bright.

Yes I have one too and its probably something like 5 different brightness adjustments from noticeable to blinding. Mine is on blinding. I LOVE it.
