I noticed recently that one of my rear C brackets for my 28.5mm broke. Anyonw know when i can get a replacement one? Steeda said call Addco so i did and the kit they sent me is too small to fit around the bar and thats the only one they make. Where can i get a replacement bracket and bushing without having to get the whole kit.

Perhaps you should use this opportunity to switch to a more appropriately-sized rear sway bar

I thought about it but a more appropriate size would be 30mm or more which no one makes. I just went ahead and ordered a whole new bar from steeda.

I was actually referring to the fact that the 28.5 mm bar is way too big, IMO...

You would think so, but having it on my car for now 3 years and about 50,000 miles. It is a great thing, it is far better than stock. This item made me much more confident going around corners. I feel this item at 100 dollars is alot better than buying a 25mm H&R for 180 dollars.

Well, I'm glad you're happy with the bar. I just have no desire to make my fantastically independently suspended rear end any less independently suspended than it needs to be, and I'm at a loss for understanding why anyone would want to do such a thing, but to each his own.
If I wanted a twist-beam rear suspension, I would have bought a Mk III or IV Golf instead of my first Focus... ![]()

Supposedly, with anything over 24 mm you're running the risk of messing up your rear control arms. They are not strong enough for a bar that sturdy.
Steeda also suggests running a larger front bar. They say that a rear bar that large could produce oversteer. I personally have the Progress 26mm and so far so good, but we'll see over time what can happen. dave.

Read my last post. Huge bars effectively turn your rear suspension into a really mass-inefficient twist-beam setup...You get all of the crappy characteristics of a twistbeam with probably almost twice the mass. Sway bars should be used to fine-tune a setup, and IMO a 28.5 mm sway bar too big for that task. I'm a fan of providing as much roll-stiffness as possible by adding spring rate to the independent suspension, rather than providing roll-stiffness through effectively disabling the independent character of the setup (which is what a really big RSB does - it ties the 2 independent sections together much more tightly than they should be and allows less independent movement, just like a twist-beam rear setup). There is a decent sticky in the Suspension Forum with a link it in that explains pretty simply how exactly swaybars work: http://www.houseofthud.com/cartech/swaybars.htm The Road/Rally/Auto-X Forum also has some great links to articles about different chassis setups and how they affect driving dynamics. Check it out when you have time and if what I'm saying doesn't make sense to you now, it probably will be a little clearer after some reading. http://forums.focaljet.com/road-rall...ud-6-05-a.html Oh, and zetecgt makes another good point as well: Big RSBs have been known to "oil-can" the rear LCAs where the endlinks mount and cause rear LCA failure.

theirs car is a RACE CAR....not a street driven daily driver used to haul the kids to soccer practice......
I would assume that they have changed out the control arms to something a bit sturdier than the OEM arms.... ....or that would be my guess...unless Larry or HH decides to come in and add some insight. dave.

so the SVT uses the same rear control arms as the regular focus.

MOST are, but not all of them. I would be uncomfortable using a 28.5 mm bar on even SVT arms with anything but the stiffest of springs...

Who's bars are those? If you are having any issues at all with our bars and clamps breaking PM me and I'll get you taken care of.
But it sounds like you have other brands of bars and they are breaking. In that case Adco would be a good choice, or try going back to the company you bought it from. Don't forget you guys can PM me anytime you need anything! Larry
