    Lightbulb Generation/ Year specific Forums

I am new to FJ and I drive a 2008 SE. I am having a hard time finding potential ideas of what I would like to do with the car, and whether my ideas will work or not. My question is, would it be possible to create Generation specific forums (kind of like the "New" focus only forum), or am I just going to have to comb through threads with mixed duratec-type cars in them?

It depends on what you want to do. We have an interior, exterior, ICE, and suspension forum that work for all years of the Focus. The 2000-2011 Focus shared the same platform so 95% of what works on one will work on any other Focus. Obviously that's not the case when it comes to engine mods, hence the reason we have a Zetec, Duratec, and SVT forums.

The other issue is for body mods. From 2000-2007 the Focus body was mostly the same except for the small facelift. It's in 2008 when they went with a completely different body that causes some issues.

Now we have categories for all the other areas of the car, having year specific forums would cause even more breakup in discussion. You don't want to have chat about engine items for your 08 ONLY in the 08 forum when it could pertain to cars built from 03 and up.

The best thing to do is check out the subforum dealing with what you are looking into and find your information in there. It's a lot more efficient that way than it is to break down by years.

Now, with the 2012 Focus, that is getting its own subforum simply because it is the first all new platform Focus since it first came out. Items on that car will more than likely not work on the 2000-2011 Focus. In that instance having its own forum makes more sense.

Thank you, this should help guide me a little better knowing the compatibilities from year to year. What I have been looking for the most is stance improvements, which I am having a hard time finding besides maybe oe or two 08-11 foci I've spotted on here.

Post in the stance forum. There may not be a lot of 08-11 stanced cars, but many of us know the workings on the 08-11 to stance it.

Also the generation specific forums suck on the other site. So much info is lost over there now because of it.
