I have a progressive lowering kit on order.. Now the question is ... does anyone know how the stock struts hold up after the lowering springs are installed and do i really need the street struts for this purpose?

hey....the stock struts will last alittle while the omly problem is is that after lowering the car the travel of the strut is decreased and there valving is not to good for real performance so they can bottom out easily,i would recomend buying new struts and shocks there are a few reputable performance shock companies out there that make dampners for the focus ,if you want a decent performance shock and strut set up try www.focustuning.com there struts are reasonably priced and give great performance....hope this helps

The best way to find out is go to the www.focustunning.com and check out some of the supension packages they have. The selection isnt the greates but the prices there are the best. Besides the suspension stuff they have is all german made and good quality i am assuming. i was to much in the hurry and got progressive, now i am kicking my self in the ass for not waiting for focustunnng to come around.

Sache and Spax are coming out with dampers soon. I think Spax will be cheaper then Koni and Sache more expensive.

The stock shocks and struts weren't designed for lowering springs. End of story. If you want them, either change to a "sport" set-up or suffer the consequences of using the stocks. Before counting out after market struts and springs because of cost, consider this. They'll DEFINATELY improve handling and ride with a full load. This you can feel. And with lowering spings that aweful gap is gone. Think about how much people are paying for air intakes $150-300, strut tower braces $100-200 per set, etc. These are VERY expensive and if any change is felt it's miniscule. Even the magazines have tested modded cars and can't explain why the car isn't faster but, rave about handling when the stocks are changed.
