Ride quality actually seems better in some ways. I hated the way the stock suspension would sort of float - unfortunately, I think it was tuned so little old ladies wouldn't complain.
The SVT suspension is fun while still being very practical.

I'm completely satisfied with my SVT suspension. It's so much better than stock, it's amazing. And it's not too stiff or too low. And it's cheap. One of my best mods.

Unless you dive into the twisties hard I wouls skip the new swaybars and just get bushings and end links. I have the SVT springs and upgraded bushings/endlinks and I love it.
I had Progress 1.8 springs and had to remove them when I installed ST200s with 215-45-17s, the back rubbed really bad. No rub problems with the SVT springs. On my 03 the rear shocks from the factory were SVTs. Check part numbers before you toss them. Im happy with my setup, It looks great, handles great, and Im not worried about driveways and curbs. |

Very interesting. '03 what? Thanks. Ya learn something new everyday. whiskeytangofoxtrot had asked a similar Q a few months back; as far as I knew, the only non-SVT Focus to have SVT dampers is the new '05 ST sedan. |

I have a 03 ZX3. I went to install a SVT suspension. From the factory my car has SVT shocks on the rear. Front struts were standard. Maybe in 03 they went to one p/n for shocks, I dont know. I havent looked at any other 03s to see if they are the same as mine. I have a friend with a 04, if I see him this weekend I will check his to see what he got from the factory.

So then you'd actually only need to change the front struts? Hmmm thats kinda weird Ford would do that isn't it (or not?)? I plan on gettin the SVT Suspension asap so would I be better off puttin the new ones on?

If you have over 25,000 miles, my educated guess is that fresh shocks are always better. ![]() |

i have a 2000 ford focus wagon se. i was planning on putting the svt springs and struts on it but i was wondering if maybe the wagon weighed more. if so the added wieght would probably have a negative affect on the ride quality. i use this car to take the family on long trips so i dont want to be able to feel every bump in the road.
thanks for any info |

So can anyone list out all the part numbers needed to upgrade to SVT suspension? Is it just the spring and strut, or are other parts upgraded too?

Welcome to [FJ]focaljet.
![]() Don't know how much you know about what's offered these days from Ford Racing Performance Parts, but, this entire kit is available for $275 list. Some sponsors of this site are selling the SVT Focus Suspension Kit for right around $250.00 plus shipping. The kit contains two struts, two strut top nuts, two shocks, four coil springs and one rear swaybar (the front bar is the same on both the ZX3 and the SVT Focus). The kit does not include rear sway bar bushings or endlinks. Reuse the bushings and get hold of some urethane endlinks. I don't have any sponsor links handy, or I'd post those for you. This is screamin' deal for better suspension. If you plan on road racing your Focus, then there are stouter kits out there; stiffer springs, firmer damper valving and lower ride heights, but for a street suspension that maintains comfort and excellent balance, the SVT Focus kit is the way to go. ![]() |

As much as Id like to support the sponsors, if I put SVT suspension on my zx3 id get it all through ford, as im an employee, so id get discount price, no shipping, and its hard for 17year olds to buy stuff online.. I just needed to know what all parts are used so i can look it up at work and price it all out

Yes, it is everything you need except for the rear sway bar endlink bushings. Those are not in the kit, for some reason.
Use urethane endlink bushings. You will be stoked; trust me. Inexpensive, all Ford part numbers and a really great feeling ride quality. ![]() Oh, and street and twisty road handling like you're on rails. I you were to open track the car and go really nuts with race rubber, then perhaps a stiffer setup with firmer damper valving and a bigger rear bar might be in order, but for everyday use, this kicks ass. ![]() |

See misadventures in SVT susp. swapping below! Also, does anyone know if the SVT rear springs are short enough to put in without compressing? Or, if you can use a standard spring compressor to get them in? |

I just ordered mine, this has to be the BEST thread in the history of the web. You saved me over 400 bucks and a lot of headaches!!!
And this is the drop I wanted, not 1.6, not 1.8 and definately not 2". I just traded in my lowered Ranger and did not want to ride like a covered wagon anymore. That you fellas, I love you man! |

Welcome to the Jet. ![]() You won't be dissapointed. I've been running the SVT springs for about 3 years now and am still very happy. They work extremely well, IMHO, with a set of adjustable dampers(Koni in my case). Perfectly at home on the street or on track. |

""All FORD RACING PERFORMANCE PARTS spring kits are listed as fitting ZX3 and ZX5 only. This would suggest 2005 SVT factory springs would not fit your 2005 ZX4. ""
thats a reply I just got from fordpartsonline.com......and I just ordered mine today thru Steve. crap.......well, I read everything twice, and I thought you guys said they would work on my zx4, I'm bummed if they don't. But he did say "kits" so maybe he means the struts and swaybars and such...and not just the springs, let mw know, thanks. ![]() |

They'll fit
The same suspension is on the sedan The only Focus with a different setup is the wagon But SVT suspension will fit perfectly on a sedan. Many people have swapped out SVT springs on their '05 STs since they (supposedly) come with SVT dampers. |
