Whats the size of the racecraft front sway bar? I also have a svt back sway bar but don't know if its a 21mm. They are both in the garage laying around but not sure if I wanna put them on. I got h&r coilovers rite now but soon koni dampers with tein-s springs or sportlines. I have stock 16" rims for winter and 18" rims Gor summer. What do you ppl think I should do? I mite buy the zt-x adjustable one for the back and don't know if racecraft for the front or something else. By the way I have a 2004 pzev duratec focus and had both sway bars. What size is the front and back sway bar?

I have a 2004 SE sedan w/ Zetec engine, yet I've got an 18mm front and no rear. I know there was never an engine swap because of the VIN, so.... something about the chart on the 1st page is incorrect.

The chart is correct the sedan SE models had different trim packages that meant they had either a front 18mm with no rear bar or a front 21mm with a rear 20mm.

My sedan SE is actually a SE comfort and has the rear 20mm bar - my friend owned a 00 sedan SE sport which has the rear 20mm bar and another friend has a 03 sedan LX that has no rear bar.

As far as I know, the bar always followed the Zetec, but there was some weirdness around late '04 cars as they tooled up for '05.

And I just told you that I've got a sedan SE that DOESN'T have a rear sway, and has a front 18mm, even though it's a Zetec. Trust me -- I crawled under there with a digital caliper to check. I'm not saying that NO 00-04 SE's had front 21mm and rear 20mm -- if that were true, it would have been corrected years ago. I'm just saying that the chart makes it sound like ALL 00-04 Zetec SE's had both, and that the only early Foci with 18mm front and no rear were SPI-powered LX's and SE's. Mine is proof that this isn't true.

Apparently. This gives me encouragement that I ended up with the strengthened 4F27E tranny, at least.

I feel like it should be noted somewhere. Does anyone actually KNOW the design rules for the sways for sure, or was this just compiled based on known examples?

Sorry, not sure what to call it.... the criterion or criteria by which Ford determined which sways went into which Foci?

I have a 2004 ZTW 2.3 Duratec Wagon.

I'm installing a 25mm Progress rear bar, a 24mm H&R front bar and polyurethane lower control arm bushings.

I believe the larger sway bars will work just fine with the more massive, top-heavy wagon.

The Progress bar and bushings are on the way, and the front bar will probalby be installed in the spring.

I'm surprised the wagon doesn't come with significantly larger bars from the factory. Traditionally, wagons in general have come with larger brakes, sway bars, stiffer springs, etc. as they are heavier, have a higher center of mass, and are designed to carry more weight.

Anybody considering larger sway bars should also consider polyurethane lower control arm bushings as well... especially if they regularly drive on crooked roads (like here in WV), as it will keep the suspension from deflecting under load and wearing out the tires.

Good Luck!
