There are 2 options
Both start with unbolting the sway bar and the rear shocks. The first and easiest if the bolts work is to place a jack under where the lower control arm connects to the knuckle/ hub assembly. Put a little bit of pressure on with the jack then remove the bolt holding the lower control arm to the knuckle/hub assembly/dingle snoffer. Then slowly lower the jack and the spring will basically just fall out. Then install in reverse order. If your Lower control arm bolt is frozen like mine was then you will need a spring compressor that you can finagle in there to get the springs out and still be able to compress the new springs enough to get them back in.

In the first scenario, you may have to apply some downward pressure to the hub assembly to lower it enough to get the spring out.

I just did my suspension last week and I had a ball trying to figure out the easiest way. I ended booking lift time at a local shop and borrowing a jack and a MONSTER (1200 ft. lb.) Ingersoll Rand impact wrench. Took about 30 mins. I tried getting a spring compressor in there but I still had a frozen lower shock mount bolt. Not much help, I know.

For a California car, the support and disconnect the arm from the knuckle method works fantastic.
For a rust belt car.... I'd sell it and buy a car from California. ![]()

One time, outta the 4 times I installed suspension on a focus, kicked the lower control arm down cause lowering the jack didn't do the job.
