I retired the old thread about swaybar articles. Here is the original post from Egz:

Here is a nice write-up on how sway bars work, and what they do: How Sway Bars Work

Here is something new:

Hey JP I have some corrections for the list.

Spi front sway is 18mm not 19, spi has no rear sway.

The svt front is def 21 and not 21.96 or whatever. I just got done measuring the spi,svt and eibach sways with my dial caliper, I was curious. The eibach front sways came out to 23mm but that is because the powdercoat is thick so it is probably just a tick over 22mm.

Also, some base model ZX3/ZX5s in later years (like 03+) only had a front bar.

I'm sorry, but what does "not av" mean?? You typed it there next to the front bar. Does Steeda make these bars in house?

Assuming I just put a SVT suspension with the SVT rear swaybars. Do I also have to get the SVT swaybar bushings and brackets ? Or can I just go ahead and order a Energy Suspension Urethane Suspenion Bushing Kit or a equivalent one from Prothane. ... any suggestions ?

Mine were severely rusted and very hard to remove at 92,412 miles.

If you've had rust problems, get the SVT bushings and brackets, THEN drop $20 on the Prothane kit and only use the endlinks. Do this last part IF and Only If the SVT bushings don't utilize Poly-U bushings for the endlinks.
The Ford Rubber Bushings will be best for the SVT bar itself.

After a productive week at SEMA, we are finally getting around to producing the race anti-roll bars. I'll update when the specs are final. We're looking at solid 28mm front and solid 32mm rear with Delrin bushings and spherical links.

Single Port Injection ... the non-ZETEC engine from like 2000-2003 model year I believe.

Basically a SOHC I-4 engine.

SPI actually stands for Split Port Induction. It's the 2.0L single cam motor.

One request to add to data: Can we get information if these various bars are solid or hollow? If you have one on your car, tap it with a small hammer and you should be able to hear the difference.
Thank you in advance.

You do not want the Marcy Motorsport bars. I would bet that if you ask Walter Marcy himself, he'll tell you so. They're for touring cars which will see only smooth racetrack surfaces.

You say that you know what bars do, but it's obvious that you either don't, or haven't though about it. By putting bars this size on your Focus, it will corner perfectly flat. However, it will also jar the suspension badly going over relatively minor bumps. You've basically removed all of your independent suspension and replaced it with front and rear solid axles. It won't be comfortable, and on anything less than very smooth roads, it won't be good for performance, either.

For most roads, I'd recommend the stock front bar with the SVT or Progress rear bars. If you do a lot of high speed driving (i.e., on a race track, not just the interstate), you may want the Eibach sway bars. They'll help stabilize the handling at speed. Most people will be better off with the OEM front and SVT rear.
