My rear toe is also set at the minimum spec and those tires wear no more quickly than the fronts; but they wear differently which is why I rotate my tires every 2500-3000 miles.
What most may not realize is that the Focus ships with considerable toe-in from the factory and that lowering the car really adds more toe-in and more negative camber. It is only here on [FJ] that some autocrossers and road racers have tried zero rear toe settings and the word spreads...
Rear toe-in is part of the original design of the SLA control Blade passive rear steer suspension. Again, at aligment time I request the minimum spec for my Focus's rear toe-in. When and if it becomes primarily a track machine is when I will try zero rear toe-in.
My Focus is road-going transpo and as such, I don't want to modify it too far out from the 'box'. Less is more for my road car.
croc, where did you have the alignment done? The shop we talked about measures in decimal'd degrees, not fractions. For example, my rear toe is set to (with a 1.5 inch drop) 0.17 degree per side, which is 1/16 inch per side.
