Cool Pics from RSB install on my '05 ZX3 S

I've been lurking for awhile, and finally decided to register a name. I'm a friend of Nliiitend1, and after attending JetFest with him and participating in the Auto-X, I finally decided to get a Focus.

A couple of month ago, Nliiitend1 and I got together to work on our cars, and here are the pics from that day. We installed a stock 20mm rear sway bar on my car (as per a slightly modified bigal-type setup) and he drained and filled his transmission fluid:

These are the cut and ground muffler clamps used to hold the swaybar bushing clamps:

Here are the clamps and plates set up before putting on the bar, bushings, and clamps:

Here are some pics of the bar installed on the car that I took tonight:

And here are some misc. pics from the day we installed it:

What size did you decide on?

Is that the SVT bar? I assume it is.. because I don't know any black aftermarket swaybars.

I have a question...

for all you guys with 05s or 00-04s w/o RSBs...

Do you fear that the torque effect the bar produces when one side counter acts teh other side...

that the clamping provisions you are using will withstand the twisting.

Granted, yes I know there is a bushing, but some of that force has to be applied to teh 4 bolts holding the 2 clamps in.

Do you ever forsee that you used something that can't possible hold up after long term, continuous flexing?

I think I understand your concern; there's been two others that have used a similar mount method in the last 12 months. We haven't heard much from them lately, but I've misplaced their usernames...

The mounts clamp the oval x member fairly well, but I guess only time will tell.

As far as black sway bars go, there's the 20mm ZX3 bar, then the 21mm SVT bar.

What color is Progress's 22mm?

Progress 22mm is purple for the old model, teal on the new model.

Well after trying my method for installing the rear swaybar,it has been months now and no ill effects to my setup. I went to a track day event over 60 laps on a 2.2 mi road course and countless autocrosses, There seems to be no movement of the mounts and no bending or loosening. And if something comes loose the good thing is it is cheap to replace it,with no welding involved. I did replace the plates with a little thicker metal and cut them to the shape of the D clamp so it would look neater.

My Progress bar was light gray. There must be three generations now.
