First of all, let me make it clear, Olek didn't do anything wrong. ALL Foci have ALWAYS had interchangeable parts up front. This is something new for 06.
I had heard that the struts were changing for 06 (originally I thought 05, but that turned out to be wrong. I even posted about it here like a year ago).
So, now we know that they did in fact change something on the struts. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they did that with the springs. I don't get the point. It's not like they saved material on the lower spring seat, since it's all still there, they just didn't stamp it into the shape of a seat.
Getting new struts could solve the problem, but BE CAREFUL! I heard the struts themselves might be different. In particular, the diameter where the strut goes into the knuckle. Somebody is going to have to look into this.
Also, I don't really know why anybody could fault Ford for changing specs. It's not like they're bound by any law or agreement to never change the cars, so aftermarket parts that void the warranty will always fit.
