Thats been my guess for a few months now. The C1 is a development of the C170. The only changes made were for easier and cheaper platform sharing and a more refined feel.

I'll bet dinner at Sonic that the entire C1 subframe will bolt right up to a C170.

I was wondering if anyone knows when this change took place on the 06's. I have an 06 that was manufacured in 10/05. I was wondering if you guys know, or could tell me some things to look for to see if I still have the 00-05 front suspension. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest way that I know of, remove one of your front tires, and take a look at the front spring, if it is cylindrical from top to bottom then you have 00-05 suspension, if it goes from big at the top ti skinnier at the bottom, you have 06+ suspension...

I just got home from work and took off my front wheel. I looked at t he spring and it doesn't seem like it goes from big to skinny. But how much is the difference? Is it totally obvious to the naked eye?

Also for anyone to help me with. Do you guys have or know any links to pictures of an 05 and 06 spring? I am having trouble finding just the springs to look at.I also got the Ford part numbers off the spring and the strut. Do you think if I took those numbers to the dealer and they punched them in they could tell me which year they are compliable with, or is that not enough information.
I appreciate all your help guys, and I have been doing a lot of research in this forum and it has helped me out greatly.

Pre-'06 springs are everywhere; they're cylindrical in shape.

The '06 springs are tapered, or football-shaped as can be seen in pictures posted in the threads linked in this sticky thread.

As for "wasting someone's time" - you'll find that I am one who has attempted to gather this info together into one post, which was then "stickied" to the top of the Suspension Tuning forum's index.

Its ok. That picture and another one I finally found cleared things up. I thought you guys meant the whole spring just tapers off twards the bottom. But now I can see that it is just the last coil that is smaller. Which is what is on my car. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.

What did you do to make the 00-05 H&R springs fit?
Or are you just taking the chance that nothing will go wrong??
I'm very interested because I just got an 06 ST.

Honestly, I just put the 00-05 springs on and they fit on the strut tower fine, they just dont have the bottom "ring" that sits inside. They sit on the tower, and there is a small lip on the sides, just not as big as the previous struts. A friend of mine has put 15K miles on this setup with Sportlines and it has held up fine, I have made it 3400 miles with no problems

How are yours and your friend's shocks holding up with just the springs? And in your opinion how is the ride? I know they have springs for the 06 now, but I was just leery of how long the stock shocks will hold up and if the ride quality is decent enough.

I had Just springs done to my 05 when I had it, I made it about 15k on sportlines, and then swapped my dampers to a friend because I was trading the car in and his were blown, he has gone another 5k on them with a drop and they are holding up fine.

Mine are holding up fine, and no complaints from my friend either. I plan on updrading the dampers when they are released and I have the cash to spare.

I did the H&R Race springs, and a 22mm Progress rear sway and it improved the handling 1000% percent, not to mention the car looks much better dropped, esp if you have the SAP like I do.

I believe my H&Rs were like 212$ shipped from Tire rack, and they were worth every penny

Sorry its hard to get a good pic, but thats my 00-05 springs on my 06...as you can see the spring sits fine, but theres just not tooo much lip on the tower, on the backside theres alot more, just not to much on the front...

Well currently there are no front dampers you can use, Koni's arent bad in my opinion. I went with H&R Race springs and love them, I also have the Progress 22mm rear sway and love it as well. Both were worth every penny.

and the 00-05 sway bars, and rear springs all fit...

I was surfing the net on my lunch break and I came across these. It is a damper and shock set by Tokico, for the 2006 focus. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them yet. The only thing I see that looks weird to me is it doesn't appear to have a spring perch. If you guys could take a look at them and let us all know what you think.

Also I forgot to mention that I see the 'sfladave' installed these but his was an 05' these say they are for the 06. Just wondering if you had to do the little modifications he had to do with his.
