Default Lowering an '09

I have a 2009 ford focus SES, it stands too tall on the springs I have now. I'm looking at the Eibach pro-kit and also the sport line. Was wondering if anyone with another 09 has dropped theirs and how far. Thanks for the help!!

I will be doing mine next week, I have the same car. However I have H&R Coilovers so I will be able to drop it as much as I need. You could run those springs for awhile and then just buy dampers later. At some point you will need new dampers, because they will wear out with the lowering springs.

You made a good point. I found a H&R coilover kit. I'm guessing the struts are adjustable. It's 1100 and seems like it would be worth it. Thanks so much for all your help!!

The H&R's they make for the Focus are adjustable height only, with no dampening adjustment. Still a fantastic coilover setup.

Actually you can only adjust the ride height. However they make a great product. $1100 is too much for that kit. I would check with some of the vendors on this site. I got mine from F2 Focus and gave me a great deal.

Oh yeah for sure, I'm definitely gonna shop around for the best deal, I'm a college student and I don't really have the funds to just shell out 1100 bucks for a coilover kit. I do wanna get them in though.

Whats your goal with the car? and how low do you want your ride height to be?

Coilovers are great, but can be overkill for someone looking to have a decent ride at their desired level. If you have no plans on changing the height, then save your dough and get a fixed strut/spring combo.

I thought about doing that. However my coilovers cost less then that setup would. It is good advice though!

My goal for the car is to take it from handling good, to handling great!! I want to lower the car 1.5" all the way around. Then I was gonna get my stress bars in and possibly upgrade the sway bars.

So I figure with the coilovers and the springs it should work out well. I was going to originally just replace the springs to lower the car and then replace the dampers as needed.

Here, this kit will do what you need without breaking the bank.

Dynamic suspension $329.00 plus shipping

You cant go wrong with a Spec Focus suspension Add a progress 22mm rear sway and if you must a front lower / rear stress bar. And you'll have a handling machine!

The FRPP spec suspension set up looks great, but I'm most likely gonna need tp get adapters for my '09. I'll have to talk to ford about that I guess, or see if FSWerks can drum some up.

The Ford Racing Dynamic suspension set up (part # M-3000-ZXM) will fit on an 09 coupe with the massive suspension adapter kit? that seems too cheap and too easy? $500 compared to the 1100 for the H&R kit specifically designed for the 09?? thoughts??

The Dynamic setup won't be height adjustable like the H&R setup, but it will be a dramatic improvement over stock & it will tighten up the wheel gap nicely.

It is a good deal. You won't be able to adjust the ride height like you would with the coilovers. However if you never plan on adjusting things then I wouldn't worry about the H&R kit.

So it'll clean up the stance a little bit? It says it'll lower it approximately 1.5 inches. That will be good enough for what I'm trying to do. I wasn't planning on having anything adjustable, just wanted to lower it and have it handle tighter that it does now. Thanks a ton fellas!! The input on this was awesome!!

It should look really good when it is done. It will get rid of the tire gap and handle better

If you want something that is really firm you will need to go with coilovers or something like a Koni damper and some stiff springs. However if you drive it every day I don't think you will like it being really stiff
