Default Can we get a count on the number of future SVT owners?

I'm just looking to see how many people from this board are actually planning to buy an SVT in the first year it is released. I should be graduating a semester after it's release, so I plan on buying it then if not before I graduate.

<<<< I'm on that mission to get one of the first 50 SVT's off the line. Does anybody know if the SVT's have limited production number included in their VIN's or stamped on the car somewhere??

As of right now i'm waiting for Feb 7th so i'll have all the proof and ordering codes to show my dealer along with my X-plan number!

Thameth, yes the cars do have an idividual # along with the standard VIN. SVT ships the certificates out usually about 6 months after the production run ends. My 93 Lightning is #3951 out of 54xx (my mind went blank...).

Don't count me in till I sign the check... but I'm definetly considering buying one. I'm slightly disappointed in the new Acura RS-X styling - bummer. So it doesn't leave much for me to consider, really. I really like the ZX3 and my only complaint is the lack of power - which the SVT mods should cure. I will have to drive one before I commit so it looks like I might know in Nov (ugh) unless I break down and buy something ??? sooner.

If Ford tacks some ridiculous name on the SVT (and you know they will) that will definetly be a strike against it in my book.

Argh! Last week I was ready to order up a SVT. I'm still seriously thinking about it. The November part is starting to get to me, though. I know I'll have my current ZX3 this summer either way. I'm so tempted to have a sunroof put in (and to keep ordering up the mods). The sunroof alone would run $1200(for a good one with auto-close, opens into the roof, installed locally with multi-year warranty, etc.) If that happens then I'd start thinking about holding off on the SVT until the 2003's are available to be ordered... Maybe by then I could swing keeping my current ZX3 to keep the SVT company....

As of now, still count me in for a SVT. If I give in and get a sunroof, the chances go down quite a bit...

Nah! Not enough power for me. I will wait until they upgrade it. I will make my ZX3 faster with less money. Don't get me wrong though I am proud of SVT for coming out with the Focus SVT so early but I am totally dissapointed. The SVT Tour will still kill it. 170 is the HP of a Stock V-6 Tour. Hell a Duratec Taurus would beat eta. My 2 cents.
Peace ( By saying Tour I mean Contour- the greatest car Ford made)

170 hp in a 2550 lb. car isn't enough? HP comparisons without relative weight differences between different cars are useless. Contour weighs, what, 3100, 3200 lbs. Assume 3150. That's over 25% heavier.

They are talking 0-60 times in the 6 second range, if I'm remembering right, I'd say that's pretty freaking fast.

I just think obsessing over hp numbers in a car like this is missing the point of the car. The strength of lightweight cars is in handling, steering, braking, any kind of change in direction or momentum. This is what makes a car fun to drive. Plus, excellent handling translates directly into better ability to use the speed the engine delivers.

True you have a point. I should have thought before I typed. But I still wished it had more power, atleast 200hp. Peace!

I'm in!!!

I've decided that even though I'm moving to Hawaii in a couple of years I'll TAKE this one with me! Maybe sell there for a terrific premium after having fun for a few years. Remember, it's a small place; how many miles could I possible rack up?
