Default BREAKING NEWS!! Just Recieved Survey from SVT!!

I have just revieved this in my e-mail less than 5 minutes ago!! It did not ask me to keep it secret or in confidence so i am posting it here on the forum. Please as many people as possible fill this survey out and send it into SVT!!! This could be our big break for all owners wanting an SVT!

Dear Performance Enthusiast:

You have been selected to participate in a brief survey based on your
participation in Internet enthusiast web sites. Please answer the following
four questions, and e-mail your reply to

_svtresearch@campbellco.com by

Tuesday, November 21. Thank you for your participation!

1. What characteristics do SVT products have, in your opinion? What does
the name "SVT" mean to you?

2. Should a new SVT product have its own name (such as Cobra for Mustang
and Lightning for F-150) in addition to the mainstream vehicle name? Yes /
No

3. For a small, sport compact Ford SVT product, which one of the following
names do you prefer?

-Frenzy
-Scorpion
-Stinger
-Tiger
-Velocity

4. Why did you choose this name, and what image does it portray to you?

Very Interesting. I guess this is added confirmation that something is on it's way shortly.

I can't say I like any of their suggested names though. I don't think they embody what the Focus SVT will be. Personally, I think it should just be called the Focus SVT.

So, do you think it would be inappropriate to have several hundred people post replies to that E-mail address?

Well, at first I thought it was weird that this email is not from @ford, or @svt or something like that.

A quick check to www.campbellco.com shows that they are some form of marketting research type company, in Dearborn Michigan (Ford's hometown). They seems to specialize in special programs and racing.

Then I checked the Ford Intranet, Campbell & Co. is a Ford supplier.

I say this email is *legitimate*!

Alright!

I don't know if everybody should respond to it however, it might screw things up, who knows...

But, if anybody wanted confirmation that the an SVT Focus is still in the works... this is it!

I got this one too.

It certianly hints but does not guarantee that there will be an SVT Focus, you never can predict what a marketing dweeb will do.

I told them to just keep the nake Focus and add an SVT or other designator.

I agree those names suck, Velocity was the least worst of the bunch.

I just got that e-mail too. Names do suck but what if we all could come up with one that didn't suck. I think maybe everyone that replies should put none of those how about the JET.

> four questions, and e-mail your reply to _svtresearch@campbellco.com by

Cool.

> 1. What characteristics do SVT products have, in your opinion? > What does
the name "SVT" mean to you?

Special Vehicles Team. The guys who make the cool Ford vehicles like
the Cobra/Lightning/Contour. I associate SVT directly with performance
vehicles I would like to own.

> 2. Should a new SVT product have its own name (such as Cobra for Mustang
> and Lightning for F-150) in addition to the mainstream vehicle name? Yes /
> No

Yes! Absolutely!

> 3. For a small, sport compact Ford SVT product, which one of the following
> names do you prefer?
>
> -Frenzy
> -Scorpion
> -Stinger
> -Tiger
> -Velocity

Velocity.

> 4. Why did you choose this name, and what image does it portray to you?

1. Velocity is a 'classy' word. SVT products are 'classy' cars.
2. I associate Velocity with speed.
Speed is good. (heck speed is what its ALL about)
Thus Velocity is good.
3. Velocity rolls off the tounge very well.
4. The animal related names do nothing for me.
5. I associate "frenzy" with "out of control". Out of control is
a negative association in relation to a car.

svtresearch, I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are legit.

If you don't want to call it the Focus SVT (my first choice) how about:

Ford Hornet - A Hornet is fast, agile and mean.

Ford Reflex - Talks about the EXCELLENT handling, tho you might want to save that name for an EV or Hybrid vehicle)

Hell, just bring over the RS and call it the RS.

Campbell & Co. is the marketing end of SVT.
They are about 80/20 marketing weenies to gearheads over there, but the guys at SVE keep the balance.
I just joined this group after reading about WHY I reacted the way I did over the Focus. No one had ever explained in detail the reasons I gave up on ever having another Mustang project car. I would have never suspected genetic engineering....I hope I haven't diluted the effects by tinting the windows!!!
I know my name sounds like I should be writing to BlueOvalNews, but I won't give anything away that will adversly affect what goes on in Ford. I bleed Ford Blue when cut, and get VERY mad when stuff that shouldn't be told gets out.
That said....I am just freakin' glad to be here!!! I love my Focus, and am looking forward to sharing all of your experiences!!

I'd personally like to see something wittier than any of those names. I was thinking something along the lines of the Taurus SHO, maybe Focus WOT (wide open throttle). That seems to be a better representation of what you're going to do with the car than any of those other names. What do you guys think, WOT?

Why can't we just keep it as SVT? Don't really want to change the name. If the focus is modified by SVT, then IT should say SVT and not some lame name. Here is another good one Ford Focus SVT or Ford Focus RS. WE would really be happy to be able to have the RS or SVT. Just my $.02.

I concur mostly. I believe a named vehicle should be reserved for a bigger, more powerful car that already has a HUGE aftermarket, such as the cobra or the lightning. I just get the idea that I would be laughed at in a Focus Frenzy.

And for the people that didn't know what SVT meant, no problem, I'd still like to drive my Focus SVT.

I would imagine that this was sent to all or a random selection of individuals that replied to the Focus RS petition, since you were supposed to leave your email address and the petition was sent to Ford was it not? BTW, I also received the email and I also replied to the Focus RS petition.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

I recieved this email as well. I will probably respond to it shortly. My personal opinion is that since the SVT Contour did not have a "name", then its replacement should simply keep its designation. SVT Focus is fine enough. Cobra and Lightning both have a history behind them so the name is synonomous with "fast car" and "fast truck". The performance focus is new and should retain its name. Yet, special designation like "SVT", "RS" or maybe even "R" would help describe its performance nature. If someone from marketing is really listening though, I think Ford should import the Focus RS and call it an SVT. Will it upset mustang v6 sales? No! They are two totally different types of car. The mustang gt does not compete with the integra type R because they are totally different. People buy those respective cars for different reasons. But if the Focus RS was here, a great part of the performance compact car market would switch over. That is just my personal opinion.

Yep, I got it too. Here's what I said to questions 3 and 4:

3. How about simply "Focus SVT"?

4. I choose "Focus SVT" because the other ones sound cheesy. They sound
like names that GM, specifically Pontiac, would choose for a model that's
supposedly supposed to appeal to the "yoot" market. Please don't use any of
those names - it's actually demeaning to the target market that would want a
factory-tuned Focus. "Focus SVT" simply and elegantly says what the car is,
and I think that the SVT name has enough equity itself to communicate what
the car is supposed to be.

those names are horrible. Glad someone else thought they sounded like GM/pontiac names, that what I told them to!

Ed you answered Question #4 perfectly, mind if i paraphrase what u answered?? Also i'm gonna put in a write in vote for them to make sure and make it a hatchback not a 4dr.

Sorry sedan owners we just need our 3drs.

I'll be responding to the e-mail very soon before i head out to school.

On another note i think it would be great if we just all send in survey's the more responses we send in the more their e-mail gets flooded and we get the point through that we want the car and we want it now!
