What is the friends/family plan called from Ford?
Can this plan be used to get a SVT?
My roomate's Dad is a higher-up at Ford and I am thinking of asking him for a hook-up.

Well A-Plan can only be passed on to immediate family members so you wouldn't be eligible for that. But X-Plan saves you almost as much. The problem is finding a dealer that will accept it on an SVT vehicle. In some places, dealers are cool with it - in Cali the dealers are too greedy and I am having problems finding one. I haven't even found someone who will sell me the car for sticker. I have a few more dealers to canvas though in my area.
Good Luck - money saved can go towards mods, right?? >8^) ER |

Pelotron,
I find that really hard to believe that you can't find a dealer that wont take X-plan. I know that Dealers get a stipend from Ford for selling cars A-plan since its under their cost, but I'm not 100% sure on the X-plan, but would assume that it would work the same way. I'll check this out. Also the thing you might have to do is wait 6 months and see how the sale are. My buddy got a SVT Contour last year without any hassels X-plan price. If the car doesn't move they will be more inclined to cut you slack. Scott ------------------ 1998 Mustang GT for now.. I got my car under the x-plan. The salesman told me that my price would be 4% above the a-plan price. Then he said that he wouldn't be able to negotiate, kind of like I would want to. Try not letting them know you're going to use the x-plan until the deal is about to close. Don't have the slightest idea if it will work, but it just might. Look for the salesman with the most awards too, they MIGHT be a little easier going than the others.

Pelotron, HEY, IT'S PELOTON!! I find that really hard to believe that you can't find a dealer that wont take X-plan.

I can find plenty of dealers that "won't" take my X-Plan. It's finding one that will take it, that is the problem. I don't want to wait till the enthusiasm wears off on the car - I ordered a 2001 ZX3 last Oct and then cancelled the order to wait for the SVT, so I have already been waiting a lot longer than most people ever would for a car. I think Thameth is the only one who has me beat. When I ordered the ZX3 - X-Plan was "no problem" - but asking for it on an SVT is like a joke... I told one dealer in depth about the Jet and the support we get from SVT and he told me that if I could increase his allocation by one car that he would honor my X-Plan on that car... Yeah right, like that would ever even happen... Anyway, I want to order a car to my specification - basically zero options, Silver w/blue - and have the dealer give me something in writing that says they'll honor my X-Plan and give me the car at a discount - the SoCal dealers are just too greedy like I said before. They don't want to order a zero option car because they like to load up their SVT's and they know the cars will sell and they will make a guaranteed profit over and above even the sticker price, so why should they help me out? As far as I am aware - there is nothing in place to force a dealership to accept the plan - whether they get a kickback or not - if they know they'll make more money without honoring it then where is the incentive?? Anyway - there are two more dealers on my list that are close enough to deal with and when I find the time, I'll try my luck with them. Thanks for the suggestions though - anyone else have some?? >8^) ER |

Try Bob Baker in San Diego. www.bobbakerford.com They handle Roush and SVT. I barely see ZX3's here so I think there will be plenty of SVT's available.

The X plan is not available on some Ford trucks, Jaguars, etc. One of my friend's is trying to buy a Tribute but can't find a dealer that will take the X or S plan as it is referred to at Mazda dealers because Tributes are in such high demand. It is at the dealer's discretion to take it.
I doubt the A plan will work for the SVT Focus....at least not at first. ------------------ "Can I take your order please?" "Yes, I will have a 2001 ZX3 with everything on it." "That will be $17,500 at the first window." 2001 ZX3 with power this and that and Advance Trac, side airbags, moonroof. |

when i brought up A plan my dealer told me they can't be sure until they get the final msrp and the car but when "it shouldn't be a problem." as long as they get more than like 2 or 3 that is, but considering i live in detroit and they are one of the biggest dealers in the area, i'm not too worried. hell if it got me low apr and a guaruntee sticker sale i'd be happy.
i just want that car. |

Explanation of Plans:
A Plan- the Discount given to Employees of Ford and their immedate Family. Usally you get the price of the car below Dealer cost. For ex. When I got my 98 Mustang GT, the list price was about 22.5K and I got the car after taxes and Tags for $19107. Amount of Discount goes up as the Price does. I belevie that my Moms 2002 EB Explorer which retails about $38000 or so got about 5K taken off it. Some times A plan isn't offered on Certain Vechicles. The SVT Contour (@ first) when it came out is an expanble of this. From the last paperwork I saw on the A plan only vechicles extpet from A plan are the T-bird, Lincon Blackwood and Navagator as far as I can remember. X Plan- This is the plan for people who know people that work for Ford. They get the car for Sticker price. I have a 4% figure floating in my head that might mean they pay more or less that amount when at dealer cost. My friend got a 2001 SVT Contour last year for about 20.5-21K and the sticker on it is 23K. I'm not 100% how dealers treat X plan since I know for a fact that dealers get a kick back when selling cars A plan to make up for the lost money they would make to the avg joe shumo out there. I have another friend who is looking at getting a Escape in the future and I'll try to find out more about how dealers treat X plan etc. I think someone posted that the Dealer would give them better APR then a better price on the SVT. Thats Total BULL****!!! Most dealers are dickheads and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. Z plan: This is for Retired Ford Employees. I guess same rules as the A plan would work here. Don't know about it since my dad isn't retired yet! Scott ------------------ 1998 Mustang GT for now.. Unfortunately, dealers are not mandated to accept these plans and often times, even on vehicles with less demand, dealers are either greedy (as has been mentioned) or ignorant of the plans themselves. This is rarely ever a problem at dealers in the vicinity of significant Ford employee populations. Otherwise, they would lose a significant amount of business. In fact, near Ford facilities, A or X plan is usually "red carpet" treatment all the way. For those of you in California (No Ford Plants in Sight), I would try to contact the relatively new "Premium Auto Group" branch of FoMoCo to find out where these employees buy their cars. You will likely get the best X plan sevice in the state there. I'll try to find out exactly where that group is.

The Premium Auto Group is in Irvine. I'd call around to the dealers in the area. I found a Tuttle-Click Ford. I know nothing about the dealer, but those near Ford employees will most likely be the most willing to work with you. Good Luck.

I just picked up my SVT x-plan is socal yesterday. The local dealers don't deserve your business until they wake up and realize it's 2002. Do what I did - disintermediate them. Call Steve Miskuk at Village Ford in Dearborn and have it drop shipped to your local (worthless) dealer.

They still won't accept the college grad money, special financing or rebates on SVTs. Outside of MI....A plan is hard to convince a dealer to accept. Did you order all the options? |

The A-plan is at dealership dicretion but all the rebates are not given from Ford for the SVT.
I just picked mine up on D-plan which is the same as the A-plan but given to dealership employes. |
