Default Minor Beef with SVT\'s interior

It has this fantastic, brand new shade of blue,
sonic blue. Available with blue cloth inserts with black leather trim. Ford and blue go hand in hand. Then you have this amazing titanium faced guage cluster that lights up [b]GREEN[b]! And the radio will light up green. I guess my point is that blue interior lights would have been perfect on this car. Don't get me wrong, I love the car but, just wanted to share my hate of the green interior lights. I know they can be replaced but, that is a huge pain in the ass.

Well I dont want to spoil your party but a lot of work goes into those colors. They will be hard to see depending on the back ground at dusk!

But just to give you a little idea where you will find Green gauges and orange is inside fighter planes! There has been a lot of research as to what colors distract and which ones work well. Geen and Orange are the best combonation, however SVT does not use orange, too bad!

Well I like them - though the VW's blue gauges would have been nice too.

Here's some pics of what we do get for the newbies:

From those pics I can't really complain about the interior. I dig the indiglos I had them in my old mustang. My buddy has a VW Passat and I really like they interior lighting on those. I am surprised there isn't some kind of aftermarket kit like that, or maybe I am just not looking in the right place.

If they design 'em right, you'll never need to look at the cruise control buttons anyway... day or night.

I wonder if those indiglo-style white-face gauges will be visible at dawn/dusk... The SVT Contour's white-face gauges require you to turn the panel lighting off to read the numbers at these times of day. Once it's actually dark, the gauges are extremely legible (green numbers on black background).

BTW, I like the green panel lights, myself... Worked just fine on my '91 Escort GT, and now on the 'Tour. But I guess I'm talking to the wrong crowd here... I'm a "form-follows-function" mechanical engineer.

Would blue-lighted gauges still be ok for cars with the black/red seating?

actually, those colors ARE available. there was a GB on indiglo gauges for the zx2 back on Nov. there were 7 colors to choose from. also, we got to pick the color & type of font. plus, a free line of text. my car is autumn orange so i went with the tangerine with blue font. they should be in next week. the company that did them is Speedhut.

I think yes but that is really a personal preference. We need choices. Lots of stereos these days let you switch from blue/green/red.
Guages should be up to speed with that technology.
How are blue gauges any worse in a red car than green?

Not really my Mom's old POS 95 T-bird and my 98 Mustang GT don't have it...then again they have the same steering wheel as each other besides the center part

well, I think what svtresearch is trying to say is that they made the best color for DRIVING...not a beauty contest. Personally since I'll be DRIVING my car and not having it parked taking pictures of it, this isn't really an issue. Also, since I can't SEE my insert when me and my honey are DRIVING down the road at NIGHT I don't have to worry about these things. Then in the daytime when everything is white it is no longer an issue. This is kinda like my snapple cap turning signal....I hate it, but it does what it is supposed to do best.

I don't see why not, just get a bottle of white-out for the SVT logo so you don't look silly.

Great. Just what I want to see. ZX3's masquerading as a real SVT. It saddens me, it really does. I really wish they'd only sell SVT parts to SVT owners.

I agree with that, but I also think that people can do what they like.

If someone wants the booger bin gauges that are specific to SVT then thats fine. They have a function. However, if people start putting body parts that are SVT specific on the ZX3/ZX5, they're likely to be made fun of. Even worse... I'd hate to accuse a Focus of SVT R*** crimes. I have the red interior -- and while I like my green gauge lights, blue would be nice too.
