Default Test Drove SVT yesterday

I test drove a brand spanking new 2002 Black Focus SVT yesterday..(yes I learned to drive stick)

it had the all the options

the cold weather (I.E. Traction Control)
the Audiophile package and a Sunroof

Acceleration was jaw dropping to be perfectly honest..got up to speed pretty quick and braking was nothing short of phenomenal(sp)

the exhaust note was otherworldly (take a WRC car exhaust and V8 exhaust and mash them together)

sounded pretty wicked..

the handling was awesome..the Conti-Sports are the perfect choice for a tuned car from the factory..it sits alot lower than the 1/2 inch that the spec sheet says..as evidenced by parking it next to my car..which is already lowered 1.5 inches..the SVT sits a tad lower.

The seats are more grippy then my seats since obviously they are covered in a more coarse fabric, and the pedal placement for heel-toe shifting is perfect for me.

I was about to just buy this black "darth vader" SVT..but my parents wouldnt cosign....bastards..

OK, I gotta stop reading these posts about test drives since my car is not here yet.. I was really concerned about how the exhaust would sound and am glad to hear it sounds like World Rally. Very good comments.

Now where is a hairpin turn and some tarmac?

I have to second the comments about the exhaust. I think the WRC and V8 comment is about dead on. When they pulled mine out of the showroom, everyone, salespeople and customers stopped and watched as soon as they heard the exhaust. The funny thing is, this was the absolute cheapest car in the showroom, considering they had 3 Saleen Mustangs, some Cobras, and GTs, and a Lightning. It was incredible to see the response from people. The videos that have floated around here for some time really don't do this car any justice.

After reading this, I'm not sure if I should:

A) Go clean my self up
or
B) Go clean my self up

I'm still waiting impatiently for mine, but at least you got to drive one! My dealership hasn't even gotten our first yet!!

Actually the salesman told me to tach it on the on-ramp to 275 and wanted to hear my response to the quickness of the car..

I was the one that was skeptical about thrashing it around, but the sales dude said its an SVT..they are made to be thrashed around!!

with a trade in for my car with a 4 year loan the payments would only increase by $25 bucks a month

Wish I had enough equity in my Focus to make an SVT only $25 more a month away. Oh well, maybe by the time the ZX5 based SVT comes out I'll be there.

I got to drive one today . Silver with blue accent interior. The car drove nice, steering was perfect, tranny felt solid. I was a little disappointed that it does share the anti-rev characteristic the ZX3 has. From what I felt I think it would be a mid to high 15 sec. car. The car has an awesome profile, I can look at it all day.

Mills Ford in Anaheim doesn't let people test drive their only SVT Focus.

If they did I would take it for a spin!

Well the sales reps their are very nice. I bought my ZX3 from them.

I really doubt they would have let you take it for a test drive. Unless you sat down and did a credit check or had the $19,000 or so dollars in your hand. Mills Ford isn't letting anybody test drive it just to see if they are intrested in it. You just about have to buy it before they will let anybody test drive it.

Also there is a $5,000.00 markup on it right now because all of the SVT Focus's that were coming did a u turn and headed back to the factory.

The word is it will be another month and a half before the SVT's will start to roll out again. Between now and then those that are in the dealerships will more than likely be marked up quite a bit.

There's a Buffalo in Minnesota?

I'm in NY hoping that we'll get one more snowfall this month, just so we can be sure it's over. If we don't get some the second half of April, watch out the first week in May!!!
