Anyone else experiencing any problems with the "Idler Pulley" by chance? I have been told that is what is causing my "Bird Chirp" under the hood.. It sounds almost like its coming from under the Valve Cover though.. Not sure how its the Idler Pulley.. But regardless.. Its only a $36.00 fix.. Going to give it a shot tonight I think..

JP you need to have the dealer look at your car the cams have been going out on the SVT`s and they sound like a chirp when it starts wearing them out
It may not be that but i would check it Tom |

I had the chirping sound and the dealer is blaming the idler pulley. I'm supposed to have it replaced tomorrow. I'll let you know if the chirping goes away.

I have a "chirp" coming from the intake of my car. I did replace the airbox with a cone filter that I had lying around just for kicks. It seems to happen just as I apply throttle, it sucks air in extra hard just as the throttle flap cracks open. Try to open your hood, take off the throttle actuator cover & just give it throttle. You might be able to hear it better then.

Thanks for all your input guys.. And Sorry also, I should have been more thorough in my describing of the problem..
When initially firing the car up.. It makes a squeak, almost as a rusty hinge.. Upon the Irriticate Idle going away finally (Good Ole RLA1 **** box!), and it sitting at Idle - its a constant whimper of a chirp.. It sounds almost as if it were Supercharged, but with more of a screech than a humming whistle.. Upon depressing the Clutch (the only reason Im saying this is because after going to Ford - they seem to think it may have been the flywheel/clutch assembly.. more on that in a minute!) it does not get any louder or quieter.. Upon releasing the Clutch (if in 1st gear), the screech becomes highly untolerable (to me, im OCD!) at low throttle.. Then upon Throttle - It goes away for the most part.. I duno if its due to the fact that the open element filter drowns out the soft (because we're no longer at Idle or under first Throttle) screeching sound.. ************************************************* From what I can tell myself - it truly seems (as Tom stated) that it is coming from the Motor Assembly - specifically the Head/Valve Cover area.. Which has Tom mentions, suggests it may be the Cams.. Has anyone had these problems?? The car is still running like a Raped Monkey on Testosterone for an N/A Sissy .. From what my personal mechanic says - he lubed down the Idler Pulley w/some WD40, and the sound went away.. He seems to think its only the $36.00 fix.. Which is great, but - sometimes, the screech is non existent - PERIOD.. Regardless of whether or not the Idler Pulley has been lubed.. From what FORD tells me.. 1.) "Something is grounding out" - From the HEAD LEAD MECHANIC! 2.) "Sounds to me like its in the Tranny.. Must be the Clutch/Flywheel Assembly coming loose" - Average Joe wrench turner.. 3.) "Thats definitely the Clutch" - Another mechanic.. ************************************************ And, I of course put all the factory Header, and Air Intake Tubing back on it, to take it to Ford BTW! PS - SVT Turbo For Sale! God I hate Ford...... JP |

I saw your car there SVTBlur, I was wondering why it was there. One of the pulleys in my engine got a rock stuck in it and it started eating the belt away making this horrible noise. They replaced it and it's all good now.
