Default Chirping Second Gear??

I can't seem to manage chirping second for the life of me, i've tried shifting at redline, letting the clutch out fast as hell, but still nothing.(I even used my T/C kill switch) Sometimes if i shift at around 4k I can feel the tires slightly spinning but no loud chirp like some of my friends cars. I know it can be done, whats the best technique?

Thanks

if it doesnt do it thats a good thing, that means that you have traction. I wouldnt drive around town all night trying to chirp your tires, thats SUPER hard on you whole drive line. Syncronizers, clutch, differential, CV joints, everything. I know it sounds cool, but take it as a good thing that it doesnt. Tire spin is time not spent going forward.

I think my clutch could be slipping?

Our lower engine mount will definitely help with that. Otherwise, there is too much slop and wasted torque.

Besides the evident damage that is caused by attempting to 'chirp' into second gear....basically the conti sports that come on the svt stock dont really chirp all that much too soft, or atleast mine dont..get some cheap ass tires if you want to make noise

The stock tires chirp, believe me... Hell, my MX's chirp, and I think I even got my V700's to chirp before. It's not a "cool" thing, it just means your not using 100% of your traction. Nothing to brag about....unless you have gobs of torque and want to burn away an old set of tires ala my mustang glory years....sigh....

i found the best way to chirp in second or even in third is when your doing a turn and in redline, then shift while the tires are turning. always does it for me.

that's the inside tire due to our lack of a LSD.

i have no problem spinning tire thru second if i shift hard or gas it too much during autoX, but i dont view it as a good thing.

The SVTF will have trouble barking second because of the dual mass fly wheel that it uses.

This flywheel is basically a two piece unit that is spring loaded and is designed to absorb driveline shock to provide smoother shifting and take some of the shock normally transmitted through the transmission.

I had an'03 ZX3 2.3 MTX and that thing would bark second very easily, it was also had a cable clutch instead of the hydraulic unit used on the 2.0 cars, I never got used to the feel of that cable. It was awful.

My 2000 ZX3 will also chirp second but not as easily as the 2.3.

There good be a good reason for that Trying to chirp the tires to much can cause that to happen. Not really sure why you would want to do this However keep trying I guess.

this may sound stupid, but is your traction control on while you're trying this?

doesn't matter. I can do it either or. But again, please don't go around chirping just for the sake of chirping...

You can chirp the tires with the TC on Wow that is some good driving. Yeah I agree there is no need to chirp the tires. I didn't one time because I grapped second really hard and it felt the car was going to come apart.

The TC just keeps you from continually spinning the tires. It can't stop you from chirping them. It will kick in once you chirp them though. My TC light hates me.

When I had my 03 with TC I would spin the tires in wet conditions just to watch the light come on and off. I know it is strange, but for some reason it was cool for me

Its simple, power shift, you never let off the gas in-between gears. I have to say though that stock mounts let the motor move too much. With consideration of the intake being so close to the firewall, I wouldnt be surprised if the intake hits the firewall in stock form.

I can make the TC flash on the 1-2 shift on dry pavement chirping the tires, but it did not do this before the tune and SR. It's cool to hear the chirp, but like has already been said if you do more then a slight chirp your actually going to be slower.

I think what it really comes down to if you want to smoke the tires then buy a different car.

When my SVT Focus was stock, I could spin the tires in second without trying too hard...wasn't even necessary to speed shift. Even when I changed to tires that gripped much better than stock (Goodyear Eagle F1 D3) I was able too do so without speed or power shifting. Everyone here is right in saying that it is not good for the car but we will do it and as long as it is not abused you really will not notice any damage to the car (unless you mess up badly and miss a shift or something like that).
But on another note, keep in mind that this is an excellent way to see if all those mods you are doing to the car are worth anything. The more the tires spin with a first to second shift, the more power or torque you are getting from those mods.
I remember about 10 years back in reading a Mustang Mag, they showed you how to calculate how much torqure was gained, as the car was modified, just by measuing the amount of rubber the car was able to lay down in the first to second shift.

Not really sure on what you are trying to say. However leaving patches of rubber has nothing to do with it. When I first bought my Cobra I could lay great patches with it stock. Now that I have 100+ more hp it still lays the same patches. I just don't think smoking the tires proves anything. Just my 2 cents
